stunsworth Posted February 5, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 5, 2010 It isn't a bug, and yes it's the same book as was published earlier. It is not being sold directly by Amazon, it's being sold by Amazon merchants. They can ask what ever price they want for anything they are selling. arthury Posted February 5, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted February 5, 2010 Looks like there is a little "bug" If you look at the Amazon link, there are both new books sellers and used ones and they are all above $1,000. Same thing with that eBay item. Here's what Erwin says about his book Downloads

I tried to link to www.hovebooks.com and I reached Steyning Photo Books the Leica Lens compendium is no more on their catalog. I think I paid it around 50 euros in 2003. cbretteville Posted February 6, 2010 Share #7 Posted February 6, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Puts had a quarrel with Howe books a while back. Apparently they never payed him anything for the book at all. The text for the book can be downloaded from his site: Home Carl

Theodor Heinrichsohn Posted March 4, 2010 Share #9 Posted March 4, 2010 A new, updated version of Erwin Puts's "Leica Lens Compendium" should be published this year ("available shortly" ...). For more info: New Leica Lens Compendium book and a free Leica pocket guide | Leica Rumors see also: Downloads for a PDF of the original (and super expensive...) Leica Lens Compendium. John F. I purchased the original book many years ago and find it to be a most useful and reliable reference as well as very instructive on optical performance in the chapters devoted to general knowledge presented in an understandable manner for non experts. The same can be said in my opinion for the smaller pocket book on Lenses. If Mr. Puts publishes an updated version I will purchase it, as I feel that the research on which these publications are based deserve economical support.
