Advertisement Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Hi BKK dan, Take a look here Anyone uses the Noctilux as a one-for-all?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

doug_m Posted February 5, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 5, 2010 It is hard to take off the camera. However, it does not focus down to 0.7 M as does the 50 lux ASPH. And its heavy. But it is still hard to pass up the versatility it provides from 0.95 on down.
mongrelnomad Posted February 5, 2010 Share #4 Posted February 5, 2010 No, because it's too compromised - big, heavy and with a painfully long throw. Unlike my f1.0, though, is is clear through the f-range, so if for reasons of space I must have just one do-it-all lense, I no longer have any concerns about taking it, and it alone. Usually though, it'll be the little and large that come with me - the Elmar 50/2.8 and the 0.95 Nocti both go in the bag...

Price aside, anyone out there who doesn't take that beauty off the camera anymore? About, the only time I take the Leica 50/0.95 off of my M9, is when I swap it off to use either my Leica 24/1.4. or Leica 90/2.0 lenses; as, these are the lenses I carry inside my small Billingham-M bag, with the M9. When, traveling with just one lens, either the 50/0.95 or the 24/1.4, is the lens that's attached to my Leica M9. If, I had to choose just one lens, with my M9, it would be my Leica 50mm f/0.95; and, coming from a Nikon background, this lens is neither big or heavy, for my use. W4Leica Posted February 5, 2010 Share #8 Posted February 5, 2010 I do not have nocti. Instead, I have 50 cron and intend to use on M9 primarily. But in reality, it's hard to just use one lens as one-for-all. To me, I need 28mm for architecture, and 90mm for tight portrait and good boken. Others, I think I can rely on 50 and moblize my feet as zoom if necessary. W

giordano Posted February 5, 2010 Share #11 Posted February 5, 2010 And a 90. And a 21. Don't need 50mm at all.
swamiji Posted February 5, 2010 Share #12 Posted February 5, 2010 No, to me My Noctilux F1 (or any 50mm) is a specialty lens, in between my normal lenses. 35mm Lux (street) and 75mm Lux (portrait). It's good for isolating subjects, but leaving enough of the environment for flavor. All three are in my Night kit.
Googaliser Posted February 6, 2010 Share #13 Posted February 6, 2010 I love my 0.95 - but use it only when the situation warrants (which is strangely quite exciting - a sense of occasion if you like). A 35mm summicron is my day to day and most used lens
sm23221 Posted February 6, 2010 Share #14 Posted February 6, 2010 Stays on very often, but there isn't one lens that can do it all.

Pophoto Posted February 7, 2010 Share #17 Posted February 7, 2010 I'm not qualified to really give a response here since I don't own one, but I'll chip in to keep a potentially very expansive and interesting thread running I'm always intrigued (I thought about this word) by the Noct, and if I did own one or had access to one, I'd by pressed hard to think why I (yup, my own reasons) bought the M9 or went Leica in the first place! Is that reason enough? And probably not just to own fantastic lenses which is always a plus! The reason being is its size and weight. Now if I did have one, I'd really consider it to be my birthday lens and in particular Night sessions or minimal light available, and unfortunately I'd love (hint, hint, HINT...) to see more examples where this is put to this use which can make it Noct in the first place! While nobody doubts its bokeh, and rightly so, are there any Owls here, I'd love to see. Having said that, 50cron on my M9 and 35lux (yup, I'm happy with mine) when I want something wider! While I love the 35 FOV, the 50 cron shines (Shock and Horror, I know!) when I look back at my computer screen, something special there, hence why I mention birthdays. I guess those who own one, might convince others to have a birthday everyday, no?
Bo_Lorentzen Posted February 7, 2010 Share #18 Posted February 7, 2010 Don't have a noct, but my cv 50mm 1.1 did me proud tonight with a beautiful candle light portrait. honestly, if they made a 35mm noct, it might never leave the camera. naturally that would be counter productive for sales. . marknorton Posted February 7, 2010 Share #19 Posted February 7, 2010 Definitely not a universal lens for me, too heavy, too big, too much viewfinder blocked. It has its place but not all the time. More useful, IMHO on the M9 than the M8.
@bumac Posted February 8, 2010 Share #20 Posted February 8, 2010 Instead of a Nocti, you can buy a Nokton 1.1/ 50 and you have still the money for a lot more lenses.
