larrylgreenhill Posted February 1, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 1, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear Forum members: I was doing an informal shoot of a wedding with my new M9, using a Leica 75 mm F2.0 Summicron ASPH and a Leica SF 24 flash unit mounted in the M9's hot shoe. Every 10th shot would come out jet black - not underexposed but black -- even though the flash fired. I didn't see it as a show stopper because the next shot was just fine. Is this a function of the SF-24 slowing down as I pushed its batteries and losing the synchronization? This "black out" never happens with my M8 and doesn't happen outside in outdoor illumination. Have others experienced this glitch when shooting flash with a Leica strobe?

jsjxyz Posted February 1, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 1, 2010 I encountered one or two like that also with Metz MZ54 with SCA 3502-M4 Don't know why.
wlaidlaw Posted February 3, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 3, 2010 My experience is that you have to give the shutter release a very definite and measured push when using the SF24. If you stab the button, the sync seems to go wrong. With the SF58, it does not seem to matter as much how you push the shutter release.
