OK, so it is only day four and already we have some superb photos; I was astounded by the response to the contre-jour theme a few months ago and it looks like we really have hit the mother-lode this time. :D

Interestingly, nearly all my favourite photos happen to be B&W against the light shots and, here we are! :D

Keep them coming, photo-posts from new members especially welcome.

imants,

I'm really pleased that one of the most creative photographers on the forum has contributed to this thread. As usual, you have pushed the envelope and I just wish that I could see this at the size it deserves.

Thanks.

i absolutely agree ..... i am humbled to look at this image.

this is light years beyond "photography"

{some minutes later} ....

i need to add another comment about this image.....

and i must ask imants' forgiveness for "interpreting" this work of art, but i will just say what it means to me ...

i am deaf.

that's me way over there on the right.

all that black space is everyone else in the world.

no one .... utterly no one understands this.

(i hate bleeding my sad story all over people, but this image did me in for the moment).

Pots

Part of a series I am doing for a book. I place pots in various positions and then use a studio light and the camera flash.

this is the next entry in my "negativity" series.

obviously much more of an excercise in concept design and postprocessing than in actual "photography" ...

both images were from the D2, heavily modified via the GIMP.

thanks Caryl

.... obviously my "negativity" photos are at the other end of the emotional spectrum, comparing to your warm and glowing pots (which is lovely).

closest i came to warm & soft recently was the projector photo (somewhere above).
