I have tried a search on the forum, but have not been able to find advice on how to code the Zeiss ZM Biogon 35's.

I am thinking of buying one and I am just wondering if they bring up the 35 brightlines on the M8 and if hand-coding is straight forward? (No screw heads posing problems for the sharpie marks?). Grateful for any advice or any user experience, particularly with the 35/2.8.

Best regards

Carl

I just got a 35mm Biogon f2 lens and coded it as a Summicron v. IV -- see Leica M Lens Codes

The more recent ZM lenses have the mount screws in places where they don't interfere with the coding and they also have a groove that makes the codes less likely to get rubbed off. Older lenses have different mount I believe and the screws will interfere with the coding. I'm not sure exactly when they switched to the new mount design. My serial no. is 155391xx so anything more recent than that should be fine.

You code the Biogon C 35/2,8 as a Leica Summarit 35/2,5. As stated above, the Biogon brings up the 35mm frame lines and the newer models have the grooved mount to accept hand coding and the repositioned screws so as to not interfere with the coding
