Elmo Posted January 25, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 25, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) this morning I stumbled on straps from Luma-Labs and Upstrap.. Has anyone had any experience with either of these straps? The one from Luma-Labs looks really interesting.

scottwallick Posted January 25, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 25, 2010 I just got the Luma Loop strap on Friday and used it over the weekend. It's like a deluxe version of the Leica Goodies sling but not as massive as the BlackRapid sling. It sits comfortably on my shoulder, has a nice quick release buckle for the strap itself, and the camera-attached buckle/strap is a good length. I figured out, though, that slings can be treacherous in tight spaces, especially when fast movement and crouching/kneeling are involved, as the camera invariably moves along the sling and away from the body. My camera got whacked once really hard once when I had to lean forward in a tight stairwell and someone pushed past me from behind. Wearing the strap tight on the body pretty much solves that issue, though. I can recommend the Luma Loop, though. So far, with the M9, no problems, very comfortable way to carry it on the street with quick access.
250swb Posted January 25, 2010 Share #3 Posted January 25, 2010 I use UpStrap's on all my cameras, and the RF version on my M9. The pad sticks like glue on the shoulder even when wearing the slipperiest waterproof coat. Don't confuse the dimple design with the dimples on a standard Leica strap, these really grip. Its also a nice simple understated design, ideal for the M9. Steve
ballyscanlon Posted January 25, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 25, 2010 i use the "STRAP" from www.leicagoodies.com
swamiji Posted January 25, 2010 Share #5 Posted January 25, 2010 i use the "STRAP" from www.leicagoodies.com I like the "STRAP", however it's not adjustable, and for large people like me, it's too short. on the other hand I have the R-strap. It's a bit of overkill for the M9, unless you have your Visoflex attached... BlackRapid.com
ballyscanlon Posted January 26, 2010 Share #6 Posted January 26, 2010 swamiji. i just found this with a google search: Custom Straps, Nylon & Polypro Webbings, Metal & Plastic Buckles at Strapworks.com they sell by the foot. seems like you could make your own adjustable strap if you liked, and keep the LEICAGOODIES hardware.
