jimbo035 Posted January 23, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 23, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) My return to Leica after a twenty year break was marked by a D-Lux 4... but somehow didn't satisfy,so I bought and had serviced an SL, then added a 21/4 Angulon, 35 & 90 Elmarit lenses. Advancing years (ie senior citizenship) make carrying the Leicaflex kit more of a chore than a pleasure, but the D-Lux 4 has provided a happy compromise despite initial relegation to party snaps and "macro" work when the Leicaflex moved in. So an old shoulder bag that is just the right size holds the SL with one of the lenses (more often than not the Angulon) and the D-Lux 4 for anything else (e.g. mostly close ups, and colour) Anyone out there who has found the D-Lux 4 similarly useful ? (At one point almost traded the D-Lux 4 in for another lens, but changed my mind.. after all it can come in handy for email attachments etc )

clinchico Posted January 23, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 23, 2010 Hi Jim I use my D-Lux 4 for everything. It goes with me every where I go, it is snugly tucked under my coat and out of site and there when ever I need it. Have fun with it Herb
farnz Posted January 23, 2010 Share #3 Posted January 23, 2010 ... Anyone out there who has found the D-Lux 4 similarly useful ? Very much so, Jim. My DL4 is my 'go everywhere' camera and complements my M8 for close-ups and wider than M8+28mm can offer. Pete.
MPJMP Posted January 23, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 23, 2010 I've been shooting film all my life and Leica cameras for the past 14 years. My current "serious" Leica is the MP with four lenses. I shoot mostly B&W with the occasional roll of color E-6 or C-41. I went searching for a digital camera to compliment my MP. I tried various DSLRs and compacts and now have come to prefer the D-Lux 4. It is certainly a "go everywhere" camera that is capable of taking some very nice pictures. I find that for me it is best carried in the Leica brown leather case with the strap across the body. It's pretty convenient to slip it out using the supplied wrist strap, snap a few shots, and then slide it back. I recently went on a trip to Memphis, TN and used it like this to get some nice shots that I probably couldn't have made with my MP. I love the ability to change the aspect ratio on the fly and the HD video feature came in handy on several occasions.
nigelb Posted February 1, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 1, 2010 .. after all it can come in handy for email attachments etc ) The D-Lux4 is capable of rather more than this, it is a little jewel of a camera and I wouldn't be without mine.
