scc Posted January 21, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 21, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a copy of this lens which is perfect optically. It is still under passport. I have noticed a certain 'grittiness' to the movement of the aperture ring. Particularly when the front of the lens is pointed to the sky. Anyone have a similar 'feel' to their lens, or does this warrant a CLA..
Advertisement Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Hi scc, Take a look here 24 Elmarit owners please read. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rsh Posted January 21, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 21, 2010 It is still under warranty and it bothers you, so send it in. If you don't, it will continue to bother you.
Marty Posted January 21, 2010 Share #3 Posted January 21, 2010 One lens of mine had this gritty feel at some early stage (not the 24 Elmarit), but it had gone after a couple of complete and rigorous turns of the aperture ring and never returned. Had it not gone then yes I would have sent it in.
scc Posted January 21, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted January 21, 2010 Hmm, maybe I'll give it some use and see what happens, after all, it is still under passport for some time yet. If it still is persistent after a few months, might take it in...

scc Posted January 22, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted January 22, 2010 Today, I took the lens into the Leica store, and compared it with a 24 Elmarit on the shelf. There was a world of difference. The chap who served me suggested it be serviced, and so off it has gone...
peter_n Posted January 25, 2010 Share #7 Posted January 25, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) That's about right. I've had two of these lenses and both aperture rings were just fine.
