SF24D Flash Gun on a DLUX 4 and D3?

Hi all,

I currently have a Leica SF24D flash gun that I use on my Digilux 2. I was wondering if I can use it also on my D-Lux 4 and Digilux 3. When I mount the flash gun on those two cameras, only the Auto Flash function is available. Apparently the Auto functions is not very smart on DL4 and D3 because all pics get the highlights blown-out.

Is there an adaptor that can make the SF24D fully compatible with my other 2 cameras? Or I really need to buy another flash gun to get TTL? Of course, I can setup everything manually, but I believe getting the TTL functionality would be ideal.

Thanks in advance,

Carlos

I have the SF-24D and a D-Lux 4. I have not been able to get satisfactory results with the combo. The flash intensity is always too much and overexposes my shots. If anyone has advice on specific camera or flash settings I'm all ears.

So far, the built-in flash has done an admirable job in the few instances where I was not able to use available light.

Bump to the top.

Anyone have any tips for getting the SF-24D to work well with the D-Lux 4? I'm taking my DL4 to an indoor party this afternoon and the extra reach of the SF-24D would come in handy if I can get the pair to play nice together.

I believe the only way to make the Sf24 D flashgun work properly with the D-lux4 is to set it to manual mode and then you need to set the parameters (aperture, distance and EV) manually in the flash unit. You should make some tests with the flashgun in A mode to see if it suites your needs first.

I've been testing the built-in flash in my D-Lux4 and, when I set the internal flash EV to -1 or -2, I was able to get much better results than just firing the flash automatically. It works good for indoors portraits IMO.

Good luck!
