Advertisement Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Hi 911turbojk, Take a look here Leica Viewfinder Magnifier - for M8.2 + Noctilux. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wstotler Posted January 20, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 20, 2010 I am thinking about getting the 1.25x version,,, since I will only be using the 50mm . . I use a 1.25x on my M8 for all focal lengths over 35mm when I'm shooting at f/2 (80% to 90% of the time) to nail critical focus. I also use the 1.25x when I'm working at f/1.2 with the 35mm CV Nokton. I think it is positively invaluable. If I were shooting a lot at f/4 (or even maybe f/2.8) I probably wouldn't use it that often. Thanks, Will
ChrisC Posted January 20, 2010 Share #3 Posted January 20, 2010 Use a 1.15 variable dioptre magnifier from Japan Exposures on top of a 1.25 magnifier from Hong Kong Supplies. Tune the variable dioptre for crispest focus [use a tripod]. ............. Chris
Guest mc_k Posted January 20, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 20, 2010 why not just get the variable 1.35, instead of 1.25 X 1.15 ?
Rick Posted January 20, 2010 Share #5 Posted January 20, 2010 911turbo... I'm going to guess that you are too young to be wearing reading glasses all the time, so I think the 1.25x is going to be all you need. mckeough_k... I had a chance to measure the MP1.35x variable and posted on the M9 forum the results, not sure if you saw it.
rickp13 Posted January 20, 2010 Share #6 Posted January 20, 2010 why not just get the variable 1.35, instead of 1.25 X 1.15 ? this combination works very well for me (glasses wearer) too. i remove it for 35mm, and leave it on for the 21 (with external finder), 50 and 75. greetings from hamburg rick

miklosphoto Posted January 21, 2010 Share #9 Posted January 21, 2010 Guys,, thanx for the advice , I think I am going to go for the 1.25x ,,,,,,,,, This Forum is awesome , there are so many great people here who is willing to share their experience and comments. Thanx Again ! Jackson In my opinion, it is the 1.4 magnifier to go for: 12006 Leica Viewfinder Magnifier 1.4x I bought it initially for the 90mm lens but now use it all the time with my 50mm Summilux on M8. brill64 Posted January 21, 2010 Share #10 Posted January 21, 2010 are you using the f1 or f0.95? i'm using the leica 1.4x magnifier with my nocti f1. i went for this rather than the 1.25x because i use it in conjunction with a 75 f1.4. i'm totally happy with results. looking at your flickr, you seem to have no problem with focus! ChrisC Posted January 21, 2010 Share #11 Posted January 21, 2010 why not just get the variable 1.35, instead of 1.25 X 1.15 ? As Rick suggests; the 1.15 is more functional in that it can be used with other focal lengths, in my case I find it a near perfect solution for working with a 35 mm lens. I think the 1.15 + 1.25 are likely a more comfortable match with the M8 50mm framelines. By the way I hate these Leica-tax bodge solutions; the wretched viewfinder should have been designed properly in the first place. ............ Chris. ldhrads Posted January 21, 2010 Share #12 Posted January 21, 2010 I used the 1.25 on the last trip, first time I really started using it and IMHO it made a huge difference for me. I was shooting mostly 25mm or 50mm lens on the trip and used it for both. I don't think I'll be taking it off any time soon. Hard to admit it but I'm old enough to need it!!!
