Morning Guys,,

Just got my Noc a few days ago ( amazing lens... !!) but I am trying to focus more accurately ,, so I want to check in with the Leica Experts here and other Leica users to see

which Viewfinder Magnifier should I get for my M8.2 + Noc ,,, I am thinking about getting the 1.25x version,,, since I will only be using the 50mm,,,

All suggestion are truly appreciated.

I use a 1.25x on my M8 for all focal lengths over 35mm when I'm shooting at f/2 (80% to 90% of the time) to nail critical focus. I also use the 1.25x when I'm working at f/1.2 with the 35mm CV Nokton. I think it is positively invaluable. If I were shooting a lot at f/4 (or even maybe f/2.8) I probably wouldn't use it that often.

Thanks,

Will

911turbo... I'm going to guess that you are too young to be wearing reading glasses all the time, so I think the 1.25x is going to be all you need.

mckeough_k... I had a chance to measure the MP1.35x variable and posted on the M9 forum the results, not sure if you saw it.

why not just get the variable 1.35, instead of 1.25 X 1.15 ?

this combination works very well for me (glasses wearer) too. i remove it for 35mm, and leave it on for the 21 (with external finder), 50 and 75.

In my opinion, it is the 1.4 magnifier to go for:

12006 Leica Viewfinder Magnifier 1.4x

I bought it initially for the 90mm lens but now use it all the time with my 50mm Summilux on M8.

are you using the f1 or f0.95? i'm using the leica 1.4x magnifier with my nocti f1. i went for this rather than the 1.25x because i use it in conjunction with a 75 f1.4. i'm totally happy with results. looking at your flickr, you seem to have no problem with focus!

As Rick suggests; the 1.15 is more functional in that it can be used with other focal lengths, in my case I find it a near perfect solution for working with a 35 mm lens. I think the 1.15 + 1.25 are likely a more comfortable match with the M8 50mm framelines. By the way I hate these Leica-tax bodge solutions; the wretched viewfinder should have been designed properly in the first place.

I used the 1.25 on the last trip, first time I really started using it and IMHO it made a huge difference for me. I was shooting mostly 25mm or 50mm lens on the trip and used it for both. I don't think I'll be taking it off any time soon. Hard to admit it but I'm  old enough to need it!!!
