I understand there are many versions or types. I have been told by many Leica lovers I should get this lens. But which one exactly is it that I should get? When I guy, what should I be looking? Sorry if this has been cover in some other posts. Thanks.

I have my "new to me" M8, and will be using the Type 1 Rigid and Type 2 Rigid with it.

So far I have only tried a late, near perfect collapsible Summicron with it.

At F2:

Do not discount the earlier lenses with lower-contrast coupled with Digital Cameras.

I'll can post some F4 shots, and some 100% crops if interested.

I have the Type 1 Rigid on the M8 now, will be taking some shots this weekend. Also will be trying the Type 2 Rigid, 6 element in 5 group.

The Collapsible Summicron shown was under $300. Not quite as sharp as the later versions, but I just like it the best.

The Collapsible Summicron mounts on the M8 just fine, it is not recommended to Collapse it.

The DR Summicron and Collapsible 9cm F4 Elmar Cannot be mounted on the M8 or M9 at all. A pity, as my Collapsible 9cm F4 Elmar is a fantastic lens.
