My computer is a Macbook Pro and i use IPHOTO. What is your advise for using as software, PHOTOSHOP or APERTURE for my MAC or PHOTOSHOP for my new PC. Thank you for your answer. People say other programs (raw converters) give better results, but seems I am not at that level. How much RAM did you have Andy? I've been running Aperture on various Mac models, with no problems regarding memory. I only have 2GB in my current machine, and I can run Aperture and numerous other programs concurrently (Including up to 3 Parallels sessions at once.) with no problems at all. I cannnot talk about CS3/4 because I have never used them (they seemed way to steep a learning curve for me) but I have downloaded the Lightroom 3 beta just to take a look because so many people seem to be very pleased with it. As for RAM I have both 2GB and 4GB Macs and have no problem with the 2GB system (except for HDR, which is really memory hungry). Aperture is the natural tool for Mac but many argue the merits of LR which is the Adobe equivalent of Aperture. If you have a free copy of LR why not try it. Manicouagan1 Posted January 20, 2010 Share #11 Posted January 20, 2010 For my M8 I have exclusively used Aperture first on a Macbook G4 with 2GB ram and now a MacBook Pro with 4GB ram running OS 1.6x. I have been extremely happy with speed of operation and the quality of the results. The M8 DNG's are about 10MB each so you need to sort out your archiving approach before too long. Any image processing software is going to have a complex user interface that is going to take time to learn. With Aperture's scheme of doing the raw conversion and other image processing on the fly you can reprocess older images without filling up your hard drive. nemo12 Posted January 20, 2010 Share #15 Posted January 20, 2010 i use aperture and nik-plugins. one thing i like better in lightroom wich i used before is managing keywords. in aperture it seems i have to apply each keyword to every single picture, in lightroom i had the possibility to add keywords to a group picture. but maybe i should should read the manual for aperture once more ...
