enboe Posted December 9, 2006 Share #1 Posted December 9, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone have the case 14872 yet who could entertain a few questions? 1. Does the case cover the rear LCD when closed? It appears from the Leica website that the back is wide open, even when the case is closed. 2. Is the front piece removable as in past case designs, like 14870 and 14871? I like the old solution of a closed/protected configuration that I can take the front piece off for more intensive shooting sessions. Thanks for your insights. chetccox Posted December 9, 2006 Share #2 Posted December 9, 2006 It is leather, but that is all I can really say for it. There is no removable front piece. The back is totally covered, lcd and all. When you unsnap the back piece, it drops over the top of the camera and simply hangs there. Then there is a flap in the back which will drop down and uncover the lcd - and also just hang there. I much prefer the protective leather case 14869.
leicaM8freak Posted December 9, 2006 Share #3 Posted December 9, 2006 Hi there maybe this is of interest for you, I use the neoprene case with my M8 and I must say it works pretty well, the case is attached to the carrying strap though a loop what makes it slide up and down easily. The case closes at the rear end of the camera (velcro) and the top flap incorporates two pockets for storing SD cards (in their protective cover) When using the camera the case comes of completely and is out of your works way. I am more happy with this then with the sturdy leather case which always seems to be in the way and is much heavier). ( mine is item number 14868 with the larger front to incorporate the 90mm lens) Cheers Reginald
