christer Posted January 19, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 19, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can somebody please give me a hint to where I might find this picture, which I saw several years ago. I remember seeing it, and it is not just hearsay that it exists. Thanks in advance Chris
Advertisement Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Hi christer, Take a look here trying to find pic: leica lens stops bullet and saves (war?) photographer's life. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stunsworth Posted January 19, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 19, 2010 I don't know about a Leica, but the British war photographer Don McCullin had a bullet stopped/deflected by his Nikon - I've seen the camera, and it didn't look pretty.
jaapv Posted January 19, 2010 Share #3 Posted January 19, 2010 There is such a lens in the Leica exhibition in Solms next to the IIIf that was in a gletscher for decades.
bill Posted January 19, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 19, 2010 Wasn't it Tim Page? On a PT Boat in the Gulf of Tonkin, strafed by F4 Phantoms, IIRC Regards, Bill
wattsy Posted January 19, 2010 Share #5 Posted January 19, 2010 Wasn't it Tim Page? On a PT Boat in the Gulf of Tonkin, strafed by F4 Phantoms, IIRC Might have been. One thing's for sure - it is probably safe to assume that the photographer wasn't using a piece of silk string as a strap because he was worried about getting a sore neck. The Solms display Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! By the way Tim Page now lives locally here and is good friends with my Leica dealer. Prints from his work are marvellous to look at. You can purchase sets or books from him, I think. Tim Page IMAGE Incidentally one of his M's has been passed on and is in local use. It is truly hammered but still works fine. A testament both to the toughness of the camera and the gruelling environment that Tim Page operated in.
