Hello Klaus,

You certainly picked an excellent selection of choices. Naturally I selected the last option! :) Mostly the members of the English/International Forum come from the U.S.A., Far East and Australia. Only about a third come from Western Europe..., or at least that is my impression.

It would be great fun to have the sort of Forum meeting you lads have in Germany where you go someplace interesting and all take different sorts of pictures of the same subjects. That to me is far more interesting than just an "LHSA" type of meeting where people get together to handle and talk about gear. Nice to visit Solms and all, but I'll keep my travel $$$ for visiting places where I can take some snaps.

Ron, poor boy, will spend a week with me in England, riding in a Morgan 4/4 and attending Morgan Sports Car Club activities, after which he will be visiting Cornwall for a week. Hope he survives the first week! At least we know SOMEONE will get some decent snaps!!! :)

Regards,

William

William,

the "LHSA" feeling is not that US specific :)

The area around our meeting location is a beautiful landscape in the geographical middle of Germany. Wetzlar, Giessen and other cities (with a far reaching medivial background) have a character of their own and are always worth a visit.

In case your wife travels with you, Frankfurt is close for shopping :)

Take the opportunity and join us next time (this is for all of you, -ladies and gents- out there!). You'll arrive as a "newie" and will leave as a friend. This is what makes the gathering so unique...

Enjoy your Morgan ride (I am jealous, man) and have a damned good time!

Hope to hear from you again (and see Photos from the Morgans!!!!)

best regards from hot Germany - Klaus

Klaus,

I'm sure you are right but I can't afford to visit both the U.K. AND Germany unless I have a rich uncle I don't know about. Haven't been to Wetzlar for 30 years... :(

Don't have a wife..., which is possibly the reason I can afford a few Leicas! :(

Can't seem to post a picture here, so have a look at the link below. It was my 4/4 hire in 2004. May Ron and I do as well this July. Naturally, Ron will be disappointed if it isn't Connaught Green. :) Details: mp .58, 35/2 ASPH, Supra 200 Pro.

Best,

William

William,

wow, what a beautiful car! This is really drivers dream.

Once you're back from the tour you MUST show your photos!

When you say "Ron" do you mean "Ronald Schmidt" or another Ron? (just curious) :)

Hello Klaus,

Yes, Ron Schmidt, poor lad. :)

If you do a search on the old International Forum for Morgan, trust me, you will be bored to tears! :)

At least Ron will get some good snaps. They are relying on me for good weather..., which I think is a BIG mistake! :)

Best,

William

P.S. This was one of Ron's favotites from 2004.

William,

just curious to find out whether a picture upload here works...

Can you see the Crazy Horse Monument? (old scan and picture from the beginning of the 90s)

Hi Klaus!

Hi William!

Yes, an international meeting is in order. As much as I'd love to come visit Solms and Wetzlar, my tiny travel budget is strained by the purchase of a new 50ASPH several weeks ago....

However, I am yet still considering breaking into the piggy-bank for an opportunity to meet my peers in Paris in October.

Are you familiar with the One Challenge, Klaus?

Thanks.

Allan

Thank you Klaus!

I love cars and take lots of pictures when I have an opportunity.

The One Challenge is a one-day event originated by Bill Palmer, an English Leica aficionado you will meet here shortly. One body, one lens, one roll (or 30 digital snaps) for one or two hours on a single day...a competition for us all to enjoy.

There is more to tell but I should let others have the privilege.

Thanks.

Allan

I feel like a blushing virgin in these new forum surroundings. :D

I would have to pick the third option as I'm off to Indonesia within the next few days and then Cuba so my budget is going to be rather tight.

Conrad,

Give us a break! Indonesia and Cuba?!!! Stay away from those virgins, BTW. :)

William - It's good to know there are some left :D Since this is entirely for work, I will be concentrating on my images.

I am exploring this new forum format, Andreas was kind enough to provide me with the link. I like a lot, I do expect that this forum will indeed remain civil especially with Andreas' increased vigilence.

Hi Allen,

The One Challenge stuff sounds interesting, so does Paris (do I understand that the former will take place in the latter in October?), and so does meeting People interested in Photography with a Leica.

Is there any point of adding this into the calendar here?

Hi Christoph!

Yes, there is a Leica One Challenge in Paris in October this year. I note Bill has established his profile and he should be posting shortly.

I would definately add it to the calendar. It is a wonderful way to meet other Leica fans. In fact, I dare say the social aspect of the event is more eagerly anticipated by most members than the competition.

Thanks.

Yes, it's in early October (9th from memory)

I have enjoyed the two previous Challenges (being fortunate to get up to third in the judging last year - must try harder this ;) ) and it's worth bearing in mind that the photography aspect is really only a minor part. Highly recommended if you can get to Paris.

There are an awful lot of British users of the forum, on the quiet. When this one gets going it will be interesting to do an analysis of members' locations. I think that there may be some surprises.
