ldhrads Posted January 18, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 18, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Relatively new to all of this, but I've been fortunate enough to accumulate a few lenses with my M8.2. Question is this, why does my metadata not show the lens apeture? Even with my Leica lenses that are factory coded, I'm not getting any data. Am I missing something elementary here? Thanks LDH
Advertisement Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Hi ldhrads, Take a look here Metadata question. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
uptong Posted January 18, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 18, 2010 Coding only shows the Lens type and Max aperture. There are no electronic contacts on the body or lens for data to be transmitted therefore the aperture in use cannot be communicated to the body for inclusion in metadata. stunsworth Posted January 18, 2010 Share #3 Posted January 18, 2010 A "best guess" value for the aperture is stored in the Exif data, but it's not usually visible. If you use the latest version of Lightroom you can see this approximate aperture. From memory it's accurate to within plus or minus one stop.
