Snakepottery Posted January 16, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 16, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) So, I am now somewhat poorer but a proud owner of a lovely silver M8! Only 3700 shutter actuations on the clock, 6 months old and with 18 months of Leica passport too! Came with a Zeiss Biogon 28mm which I'm not sure whether to keep or move on as I have a 35mm Asph which I love, and if I was to go for a wide angle would select a 24mm probably. But we shall see, no great rush. Unfortunately I will have to move on my D-Lux 4 as I now need the funds as I spent a bit more than I was anticipating! The UV/IR filter offer had not been taken up by the PO so I have ordered one for my 35mm but really should have ordered one for the 28mm too. Now I have gone back into the site and can no longer order the second. Is this right? I was hoping to get one now and one later for another lens. I guess I'll have to phone up Leica UK and ask them. I have to say, I don't find the shutter noise particularly annoying, certainly not as nice as the tick from the M6 but I'm sure I'll get used to it. Anyway, itching to get out and take some pics now! reckon I need the Thumbs Up too! Still have my M6 though!!
Advertisement Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Hi Snakepottery, Take a look here New M8 owner!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Nicoleica Posted January 16, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 16, 2010 Congratulations. I'm sure that you will love your M8 and the pictures that it produces. I too do not find the noise bad at all. After you get over the shock of hearing it whir and clank for the first time when you are used to the simple click of an M6, you will soon hardly notice it in use. If you use a half-case, then this muffles the sound even more. I hope that you manage to order your second free filter OK. But as quite a few others have made the same mistake, I'm sure that Leica will be able to sort it all out for you. Once again, congratulations, and I hope that you have much enjoyment from your new camera.

Islandmike Posted January 17, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 17, 2010 Congratulations - after only a couple of months with my M8, I'm delighted - hope you will be too. I'd had about 30 years away from Leica equipment and glad to be back!
