Advertisement Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Hi andreas_thomsen, Take a look here M9 capture one 5 pro. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
scc Posted January 16, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 16, 2010 It is a confusing program with great results! Have you tried Lightroom 3 Beta yet? If you are sticking with Capture One, I would suggest you take your question to the Phase One user forums, probably get a lot of good advice there... MacSpikes Posted January 23, 2010 Share #3 Posted January 23, 2010 Andy, I really like C1v5 for the M9. I used iPhoto and Aperture in the past, but when I switched to a Nikon DSLR (D3), I found out that the RAW conversion with the Nikon software was just so much better. The drawback was that I had to learn to organize folders myself again and not let the software do this. This is a help for working with C1v5. When I switched to the M9, I tried LR2 and LR3b. I did not like both. The workflow is just to much automated for my liking. I feel I am not in control of my own images. Back to C1v5. I never use the import tool to get the images of the SD card. I plug in the M9 and use Apple's native app Image Capture to copy the images to a folder. My folder structure is as follows: HD > Images > yyyy > yyyymmdd_Title. That it. Everything is backed up thoroughly, but that's another story. Now open C1v5 and choose the folder icon in the uppermost left corner. Now you can point to the folder with the M9 images. The Q menu lets you do Quick adjustment. Now please do read the well written documentation that comes with the software. It is too complex for a forum posting. But the image quality is stunning. The icon with the cogs gives you the output "recipes". You can make presets for "email", "print" or whatever you like. Give it a try: you will not be disappointed. wlaidlaw Posted January 26, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 26, 2010 Andy, Watch ALL the tutorials on the Phase One website - boring I know but you will amazed how easy it all seems afterwards. Wilson
wparsonsgisnet Posted January 26, 2010 Share #5 Posted January 26, 2010 Andy, I moved to V5 Pro recently and really am glad I did. My M8 and M9 pix look the same in C1 (that is, the profiles seem to work the same way). What I like about V5 Pro is the HDR stuff. On many pix that have blown-out highlights, a touch of Highlight slider from this feature makes all the problems go away! Workflow, for what it's worth: I put pix from a shoot into a directory named for the shoot, or set of shoots. Then in C1, I point to that directory. I do not load from the card using C1, but use copy/paste commands to move the image files. I have turned off the sharpening and saturation settings in C1. I sent all completed files to the C:/program files/phase one/Capture One 5/Images 5.1/ directory. Then I point my other software here for the reads. For example, PSCS goes here to open a file (I use this for spotting and for Silver Efex Pro); ImagePrint goes here to get the tiff file; and so on. C1 v5 Pro seems a little faster than the LE version (I was at 4.8.0.3). Did I say I like it? Regards,
theendlesshouse Posted January 26, 2010 Share #6 Posted January 26, 2010 I think C15 pro is a superb program. I didn't find the tutorials on the phase one site very helpful, There are some good ones on youtube. I do as above, Import my files onto my computer and then navigate to them in C1 library, so much easier!
