cnguyen Posted December 8, 2006 Share #1 Posted December 8, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) A suggestion to Leica - instead of sending the M lenses back to Leica to be coded can leica just have these pre-milled M mounts (coded for 50mm , 21mm, 35mm etc ) ready to be sold as parts. That way we can just order them and install them on our lenses. You only need to take the screws off to remove the old mount put the new mount on the new lens and you're done. Indeed, they sell the MP rewind knob as self install and even include the screwdriver to to do it. With a serial number, they could make sure they would provide the correct bayonet ring. It's just possible, of course, that they don't want the old rings floating around unused because there's no telling where they would end up.
cnguyen Posted December 8, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted December 8, 2006 Mark - the old rings can be sent back to leica to be recycled just like the old days when you get 5 cents back for every empty Coke bottle you return. :)
