Hi Guy,

very nice images, but why not putting up a link to a web page where these pictures are available, or a posting in the photo forum?

These are rather large files that take a time to download for users with ordinary phone connections...

Well they are on my site also .http://www.guymancusophoto.com but i am going to do a tribute to Mexico on the photo side when i get a chance ,it really shows how well the DMR does in the field. This maybe very interesting to folks that may want to move over to the DMR or even the M8 since they both are using the Kodak sensors and can give them a good idea what to expect

Edward - Please let us know when you're selling your gear, you'll have very interested buyers here :D

I'll make a list, and anyone who wants to see it can PM me. BTW I have decided to keep one R8 and some of the glass. The siren song of the DMR is just too powerful.

Thanks for the pics Guy. An impressive digital system indeed.

Imagine how good it will be when Leica reproduces this DR and colour fidelity in a dedicated body with a full frame sensor. No lens extension factor, no hybrid/body matching problems, but maybe sensor cleaning problems. Ready for Photokina 2008 I'd say.

Or, would Leica introduce such a body as soon as they could - ahead of the next Photokina? The march of digital technology has changed marketing dynamics. It's now a case of hanging on to customers before they head off somewhere else.

As soon as you can please Leica. ;-)

Rick.

Rick,

Keep dreaming:) Before Leica can introduce anything Kodak/Dalsa has to come up with a new 24*36 (FF?) CCD/CMOS chip, No such chip, except the one currently used in the DMR/M8, is presently available and it will like take some time before that happens. So Photokina 2008 is a best case estimate, probably it is more likely to occur in 2010 :)

So all of the FF die hards can go sit and wait for the next 5 years (given the usual delivery problems) or get the DMR today and get over the 1.37 crop factor.

No matter how much everybody on this list speculates on FF and R10, the above is hard information that no speculation will change:rolleyes:

oh well, I guess I'll just have to stick with Fuji Astia for a while then. :) I picked up my last roll on Wednesday and guess what? They looked just like they'd been shot with a 40MP full frame sensor with great dynamic range in an M Body. :D

Do digital shooters miss that little pleasure they used to get when they saw that their trannies looked better than they imagined they would?

I think that the we will see a lot of used or at least more used DMR's when the M8 has been released. I also expect them to be 10-20% cheaper used. New price is of course going to be the same but I think they will keep the package price for R9/DMR.

MArtin,

On the other hand Canon did substantially lower its price for the 1DsMKII a while back!

On the FM thread if you follow it closely you will have noticed that quite a number of people try the DMR and then go back to Canon/Nikon because of fosuing issues or general issues concerning mating back to camera and the unresolved firmware issues, to sum it up I would not be surprised if the DMR hasn't already passed the peak on is selling curve, any increease in sales would have to come as a result of a mark down in price.

just my thoughts:eek:

Tim,

I agree with you. But then Leica isn't a company lowering it's prices. They even raised the prices on all film cameras not too long ago. And that's not the way to go if you want to sell more cameras especially when film isn't that big anymore.

I think that Leica is concentrating a lot on the M and getting that one shipped out. And then they have the 4/3 system as well. I don't think they mind a decrease in sales of the DMR.

I have never seen and I mean NEVER seen Leica lower the price of a product. :)

Yeah I have seen package prices but that's not the same thing. I have seen shops lowering prices of outgoing products too but never an official price decrease of a product.
