Advertisement Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Hi erlingmm, Take a look here Margolis on M9 in FT/How To Spend it. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
johnbuckley Posted January 9, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 9, 2010 I love it. The M9 is beautiful but demanding. You actually have to focus!
zeitz Posted January 9, 2010 Share #3 Posted January 9, 2010 Do people really need to be told how to spend their money?

andybarton Posted January 9, 2010 Share #5 Posted January 9, 2010 Leica gave him an M9 and lens so that he could write that? Am I missing something here...? I think I will ask them to lend me one. At least I would write more than a couple of hundred words. And I'd show some results. Oh, and it's actually nearer seven grand with a lens, according to his prices. Maybe the FT journos don't need to bother to be able to count these days. What a really poor piece.
nhabedi Posted January 9, 2010 Share #6 Posted January 9, 2010 Leica gave him an M9 and lens so that he could write that? Am I missing something here...? I think I will ask them to lend me one. At least I would write more than a couple of hundred words. And I'd show some results. Sorry to rain on your parade, but I'm pretty sure Leica will sell far more M9s because of his text than because of whatever you will write...
andybarton Posted January 9, 2010 Share #7 Posted January 9, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Pardon my ignorance, but who is he anyway? The fact that there's a short piece in the FT will sell the camera, because frankly, anyone could have written that piece.

erlingmm Posted January 9, 2010 Author Share #9 Posted January 9, 2010 "How to spend it" is a glossy magazine that comes with FT on Saturdays. Margolis has a page called "technopolis" where he profiles 5-6 gadgets that he finds interesting, usually cutting edge electronics, cameras etc. Naturally the piece is rather short on each item, this is on the longer side. Whatever your opinion on the text, this is valuable profiling for Leica. BTW the Olympus PEN is profiled on another similar page called "eclectibles", along with more fashion oriented items. Yes, is seems some people need advice on how to spend their money. We should not complain that some of their money goes to Leica. For those of you still waiting, hopefully they won't buy themselves ahead of you ;-)

pop Posted January 9, 2010 Share #11 Posted January 9, 2010 Pearls before swine. The swine might sell the used product when they see that the author was right and that the M9 does not "make" good pictures.
andybarton Posted January 9, 2010 Share #12 Posted January 9, 2010 Margolis has a page called "technopolis" where he profiles 5-6 gadgets that he finds interesting, usually cutting edge electronics, cameras etc. If this is the quality of his pieces, I wonder if he has reviewed any old rope, recently
microview Posted January 9, 2010 Share #13 Posted January 9, 2010 "celeberati"? In case you are wondering, "The Celeberati are said to believe in the modal dualities of Fame and Privacy and seek a divine lifestyle based on adulation from a great distance. Religious commentators regret to confirm that it is a far-from silent order.".
chrism Posted January 9, 2010 Share #14 Posted January 9, 2010 Horrible goddam flash website. Why can't we simply read the text and scroll it properly rather than having to drag the sliders? Flaming web designers getting far too full of themselves. Gives me a full blown Colonel Blimp world-is-going-to-the-dogs moment. Chris
gwelland Posted January 9, 2010 Share #15 Posted January 9, 2010 I don't see what all the fuss is about. It's a lifestyle/technology fluff piece about what must be one of the most desirable cameras. Personally, I related to and agreed with everything he said

spylaw4 Posted January 10, 2010 Share #20 Posted January 10, 2010 I don't see what all the fuss is about. It's a lifestyle/technology fluff piece about what must be one of the most desirable cameras. Personally, I related to and agreed with everything he said +1 about the functionality; wasn't keen on some of the phraseology used though. Didn't look at the site as I get the paper on Saturday anyway.
