Advertisement Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Hi andreas_thomsen, Take a look here S2 now or just be patient and wait?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
okram Posted January 7, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 7, 2010 I have only experience with M8. If I was in your position, I would wait for 4- 6 months, as I am doing for M9. M

markowich Posted January 7, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 7, 2010 I wouldn't. Unless you're interested in a weather sealed studio camera. (Schoenen Gruss nach Duesseldorf!) just wait, 6 months at least. find out what WA performance is like. the 70mm is far from stellar, the 180mm is (ordinarily) good. or buy into a proven system now. peter

You're not rich, but you're thinking about buying such an expensive camera? Do you really need it? And do you really want to base your decision on a few random utterances on a web forum? Wow... earleygallery Posted January 8, 2010 Share #6 Posted January 8, 2010 Clearly if you have to pose the question on here then you have no need for the camera. If you're just after some bling to impress then buy it now, what does it matter?

Rather than the universal comparisons being made, which blend different systems into one super system then compare it to the S2, why not determine exactly what YOUR shooting needs and style are and match up the best camera to fit them ... knowing that NONE of them will meet every need. If the S2 fits best, get it. Weather sealed studio camera ... LOL! ... Well, actually yes ... plenty of location work is done in humid, windy and sandy conditions. I've been caught in monsoon downpours, and shot in "wet" snow storms ... so weather proofing couldn't hurt. Tri-X like noise at base ISO? Get real. It took a few weeks of goofing around before finding the right "soup" when processing since there aren't any profiles yet. Once you figure it out to your personal tastes it seems fine. I got the S2 file processing down faster than I did the D3X files. My only issue was that they should have had finer ISO selections rather than jumping from 160 to 320 to 640 to 1250 (I hated that on the M8 also). And the LCD exposure compensation isn't a great feature IMO ... but neither would be a deal breaker if the S2 fit my shooting style and needs better than something else. -Marc
