Advertisement Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Hi albert, Take a look here Colorless Cosmos. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
hm1912 Posted July 7, 2006 Share #2 Â Posted July 7, 2006 I like this, although it is a bit dark for my taste. Perhaps the contrast could be a bit more pronounced? The composition is very interesting. Â Thanks for sharing
stuny Posted July 7, 2006 Share #3 Â Posted July 7, 2006 Al - Â A rather unique approach to the subject (framing, monochrome), and I like it. Ilan's monitor must be even worse than this one -- My "work" monitor is too dark and too low in contrast compared to the one at home, and I find the "brightness" and contrast in this shot acceptable on this monitor, so it will no doubt be superb at home. albert Posted July 7, 2006 Author Share #4 Â Posted July 7, 2006 IIan & Stuart, Â Thanx for the peek and the kind words. I have been using my new MacBookPro....Apple boasts to the brightness of the screen.....I should think about this before posting....Al
hm1912 Posted July 7, 2006 Share #5 Â Posted July 7, 2006 I use a Powerbook, so no glossy screen for me (yet), but I doubt my poor monitor is that bad . Perhaps the gloss is all the difference it would need (for me). I just think this is a matter of taste. Your photo reminds me of a print I was working on yesterday. I was enlarging a print and it just either seemed to dark for me, or too washed out. I finally managed to get something I liked by using two different contrast grades during the exposure time. I don't know how to do that in photoshop, but I know it's possible. In any case, yours is a great photograph.
stuny Posted July 7, 2006 Share #6 Â Posted July 7, 2006 Al - It does look even better at home. Â Ilan - Did your darkroom time revive your writing muse? Â Stuart
hm1912 Posted July 8, 2006 Share #7 Â Posted July 8, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Stuart: I don't know if the darkroom time helped -- it did in giving me a break from work -- but I've been reading some articles that have helped, and I don't feel so stuck any more. Oh, and I found a copy of your book on abebooks. It should get here in a week or so.
ddh Posted July 8, 2006 Share #8 Â Posted July 8, 2006 O.K. Al, sixth time I look at it; time to speak up. I don't really like flower photos, but this is not a flower photo, is it. Â Mesmerizing ! I guess the title tells it all. Â Thanks for sharing.
