Fotomiguel Posted December 31, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 31, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm looking for a new bag for my M9. I like the Evans Walker from Artisan&artist (Artisan&Artist* Bags). I have the M9 always set with a 50mm f2 cron but I love to have with me the 18mm superelmar f3.4, the 28mm elmarit 2.8 and the 75mm f2 cron. I know that this bag is really small I this is what I love because I like to have the camera and lenses always with me. There is not many photos about this bag and may be It`s too small for four lenses and one camera. Or may be one can set two lenses in one using a doble rear cap. Any information would be very helpful to make my final decision. Thank you in advance Miguel

Cityman Posted December 31, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 31, 2009 Nice bag. seems a bit small for 4 lenses though. also why does it cost so much?
Jeff S Posted December 31, 2009 Share #3 Posted December 31, 2009 Hi, Miguel. I don't own A&A (have Fogg), but I think the Oskar One Day bag would probably better do the trick since its dimensions are closer to a bag I own. The Walker Evans seems small. To accommodate more lenses, my bag has a divider with a flap that can be placed horizontally over one lens, with another lens on top, so 2 lenses can fit comfortably in one compartment. You could probably rig something like this if the A&A doesn't have something similar. I also prefer a top flap to zippers, for weather protection and ease of access. Having said that, I generally use a bag for transit and travel, preferring no bag for shooting. Just a few thoughts...sorry if none of this helps. JeffreyTotaro Posted December 31, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 31, 2009 Hi Miguel: I have 2 AA bags, the Image Smith and the now renamed Oscars One Day (7100). The Image Smith will suit your kit very well for camera plus 4 lenses and accessories, a bit wider then the Evans Walker. I recently got the 7100 for, as the name implies, a smaller kit and smaller bag, like on vacation for instance. If you use the double rear cap (never heard of this before, sounds cool) then you could fit 2 in one slot in the Evans. The nice thing about using both these bags is that I can carry the larger bag on the plane with all lenses (I have 5) and then I can remove the foam liner from the 7100 and pack it flat in the checked baggage and then put the foam liner from the Image Smith into the 7100 for daily use. One thing I don't like about the 7100 is the velcro closure. Its noisy to open. I may take it to my local shoe repair shoe and ask them to replace it with those magnetic closures you see on womens handbags and on the case for the Dlux 4. Anyway.... These are great bags. Good protection and small size, plus they look like they are worth 2 cents so they do not draw attention. And the red lining is nice to help find lens caps and other small black items that get lost easily in black bags.
LDHaber Posted December 31, 2009 Share #5 Posted December 31, 2009 I have this bag. Too small for my M9 and two lenses. It is hard to get the camera into and out of this bag and once in, I cannot imagine putting three or more lenses in it. I agree it is a sweet looking bag, but, as I said, it is too small. david berry Posted January 1, 2010 Share #6 Posted January 1, 2010 I have this bag and love it...It carry's my M9 -lenses--G11 and my S90....Would highly recommend it...
adli Posted January 1, 2010 Share #7 Posted January 1, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have the Oscars One Day (7100), fitted with one extra divider. It fits two bodies with one small lens each (I use the 28/2.8 and the 35/2 pre-ASPH) and two other lenses, four other lenses if you stack. If you have one body only, you can have that body with a small lens in one of the compartments and then you have three other compartments for lenses (with the extra divider). Great little bag that sits close to your body when you walk around.
thirdwheel Posted January 1, 2010 Share #8 Posted January 1, 2010 I'm looking for a new bag for my M9. I like the Evans Walker from Artisan&artist (Artisan&Artist* Bags). The Evans Walker is a bit too small for me, and also I find it more convenient to have a bag with a flap cover than a zip cover as the former is probably easier to access the equipment. And even the GCAM-7000 I am beginning to find a bit small because of the lenses I want to carry for each shoot. As noted, A & A bags are not cheap. However, they are quite nice and less noticeable than the Billinghams.
Hartmonstr Posted January 1, 2010 Share #9 Posted January 1, 2010 I have the A&A Penn's Pad & Pencil Satchel which is bigger than the Evans Walker and holds my M8 with a 28 Cron mounted and inserted in the middle section, plus a WATE on one side and the 50 Lux and 75 Cron stacked on top of each other on the other side. It's a tight fit in the smallest footprint you'll likely be able to use with your gear. I'm afraid the Evans Walker would be too small. jh
Ecaton Posted January 1, 2010 Share #10 Posted January 1, 2010 I use it with M8 and three lenses, for which it is perfect. It also fits body (with one lens mounted) and three more lenses in the bag, if at least one of them is on the real small side, such as your Elmarit (assume it's the new tiny one), but it gets a little tight. E.g. 21ZM, 35 cron, 75 cron and tiny CV12 works.
gwelland Posted January 1, 2010 Share #11 Posted January 1, 2010 I use the Image Smith (leather) which has the wider front pocket. I found that I could comfortably stack a pair of lenses like the 28 & 35 crons in one pocket, have the M9 & 50 'lux plus put either a 90 Elmarit-M or Noctilux in the other pocket. In my case I keep the 24 Elmarit-M/Noctilux in a front pocket. Given your lens selection you might be able to get away with it since the lens pockets in the main bag are quite deep. You would have to juggle your lens selection around to make it fit.
Fotomiguel Posted January 2, 2010 Author Share #12 Posted January 2, 2010 All the replies give me one clear conclusion. The Ewans Walker is too small. Now the next step give me two options: "Penn's Pad & Pencil Satchel" or “Oskar's One Day Bag” May be the first looks more compact and quicker to use? The zippers look really easy to use. It's a bit too tall. Outside 215mm tall and inside 160mm tall. It's a bit difficult to see in the pictures why so different size from outside to inside. Artisan&Artist* Bags Thank you all for your help. Miguel
Guest Lotw Posted January 2, 2010 Share #13 Posted January 2, 2010 I own the same amount of lenses as you and use this Lowepro which works very well for me: Lowepro - Classified 140 AW Because it's deeper than the usual camerabag it has more capacity whilst it does not feel and look that big Very good photo's by the way! adli Posted January 2, 2010 Share #14 Posted January 2, 2010 All the replies give me one clear conclusion. The Ewans Walker is too small. Now the next step give me two options: "Penn's Pad & Pencil Satchel" or “Oskar's One Day Bag”May be the first looks more compact and quicker to use? The zippers look really easy to use. They are basically the same bag, but one with zipper and one with a top flap. The Oskar bag also have a few more compartments on the outside. I find the flap very easy to use if you can live with the velcro. I would expect the flap to be better than the zipper in rain also.
Guest Lotw Posted January 2, 2010 Share #15 Posted January 2, 2010 Both zipper and velcro make noise and that's not what I want. The Lowepro Classified has a zipper too, but it is constructed in a way that you can leave it open without someone noticing it
jamriman Posted January 2, 2010 Share #16 Posted January 2, 2010 Sorry for being off topic but I must say their half case is superb. I have been using Luigi cases from day one. Quality is unsurpassed. However I find the A&A is lighter more open for accessories and a snap to get on and off. Worth a look.
chris_tribble Posted January 2, 2010 Share #17 Posted January 2, 2010 The small Domke satchel (with a modified liner) can take 4 lenses (back to back) + 2 M bodies with sort lenses. Frankenfinder + hoods + back caps in the front pockets. Batteries + SD cards in the flap pockets. This has worked well for me for years - I can have 21/28/35/50/90/135 + 2 M9's in one very portable package. My only fear then is losing the damn thing! Jeff S Posted January 2, 2010 Share #18 Posted January 2, 2010 Miguel, if you don't mind spending twice as much (hey, you bought an M9!), the Fogg b-Laika, in all black, is a perfect bag for your system. I've used mine for 15 years or so and it has held up perfectly. It has a top flap, no zippers, which I prefer, and has no velcro. Jeff
5541Q Posted January 2, 2010 Share #19 Posted January 2, 2010 The small Domke satchel (with a modified liner) can take 4 lenses (back to back) + 2 M bodies with sort lenses. is this the F-5XB or the F-803?
chris_tribble Posted January 2, 2010 Share #20 Posted January 2, 2010 is this the F-5XB or the F-803? It's the F-803. I also have the F-802 - but don't use it that much - occasionally when I'm mixing DSLR and DRF... The F-5XB would be too small for most of my purposes. I'd rather put the camera in an insert and use an any-brand shoulder bag for improvised carrying... Any of these would do...
