Good evening,

I'm new here, and I have a question, and I hope that somebody can help me.

I can buy a Leica DPR camera from 1936 for 75 Euro. ( see picture)

Is this a good deal, I want to put it to the rest of my collection camera's ( several brands)

Is there also a site where I can find something more about this specific camera.

I hope that I recieve an answer.

Thank you in advance.

Regards

Íf you want to make a good deal, sell it for 100€.

If you want to have a nice camera, clean it.

In both cases: look if it "works";)

You have decided, that it was worth you 75€ when you bought it. So, what´s your question now? Maybe you can find an answer looking at ebay for old transactions.

Hi, Dr. No

you might be right. The colour of the lens first looked like a Nickel Elmar. But when I compared it with mine, I found a lot of differences.

On the other hand side, the release button looks original, the body itself too. But the colour of the "chrome" parts ist too yellowish, even for a Nickel version. But the body caps of russian fakes come all in brass usually...

A lot of "Buts" which would have hindered me from buying the item.

Best wishes for a happy New Year specially to you

Friedhelm

The window itsself seems to be ok, the step is missing...

And compare an original Nickel Elmar with the lens on the picture above.

Yes I have a number, NR: 124247

And If I take a better look at the picture, then I can see the number and as far as I can tel its correct.

OK, definitely russian origen, thus a fake.

the number belongs to a Leica III in chrome.

yours is like a Leica II in black.

the other curiosities have been discussed already.

Hi,

there are hundreds of russian fakes on e-bay, this is not a rare item.

It is not only the rectangular windows that makes it easy to distinguish it is copy or fake - old FEDs had as well step on the windows (however shaped slightly differently). If you would see a copy like this it would be more than 100 EUR worth.

Other variances that easily help in identifying fake:

- look at the round windows left and right from the rectangular - they ARE different than original Leica as can be seen on the photo posted by III

- lens was made out of Industar - look at the ring for adjusting the diaphragma - Leica had never a ring, again, photo from III. Attention: "Elmar" made of FED look similar as genuine Elmar, the difference is location of diaphragm blades (Elmar close to the front lense, FED deeper)

- other facts - shape of the follower for distance meter coupling with the lens - again, FED has round as Leica, Zorki has triangle.... and other minor details (vulkanit or paint on the body, shape of shutter release, engraving letter's shape...)

Fake form the picture was most probably made out of FED (vulcanit and not black paint and shutter release of Leica type), but the lens is undoubtly Industar which was usually sold with Zorki.

It is not "golden Leica", it is just brass...

best regards Jerzy
