Is this a processing or camera issue? I am new to digital

I have had my M9 for less than a week now and am very new to the digital post process. I just noticed in some very strong highlights in some pictures that were in shade but had some intense highlights there were some luminance like neon lines but only noticeable when zoomed in on LR. Is this a problem the camera is having with firmware or hardware or could it be a problem with LR processing of these areas? Any advise would be great. Thanks all who can help.

I've been using Lightroom for at least two years and probably longer. I got on board early. I have had color calibration issues (prints don't look like screen) and I make a variety of adjustments in the development module, but I don't have the sort of problems you are experiencing. I still don't have a Leica--waiting. I've been working with Canon EOS cameras and lenses.

I wouldn't blame the LR software, at least that is not where I would start. One question: Do you get similar results in Aperture or other image development software? You probably can test for free by downloading trial versions.

It is quite possible that this is a RAW devoper problem. Download a trial version of C5 on the Phase One site and have a look at the files in that one.

Im almost sure its a sort of computer / LR / Leica bug. I had the same issue on some pictures on my 4 year old PowerMac. I copied the Raw file to a memory stick and opened it in LR in my new iMac and the problem was gone. I copied the same Raw file back to my Powermac and the problem was still there. I developed the file and opened it in photoshop and the problem was gone. It is only visible on the screen, and only in LR. My file was from a M8 by the way . I have never seen it with my Nikon raw files, so im not sure if it is restricted to Leica- files .

I use an M9 and Lightroom on a MacBook Pro (LR v2.6 in 32 bit mode as the 62 bit mode crashes as present). So I suspect my configuration is similar to yours. I've noticed no problem like this. I can only assume that there is a Camera problem. Might be worth trying original files from the Camera on one or two other software options to see if you get reliable repetition.

Incidentally, I have been using LR v2.5 till a week ago and have also tried my files with Aperture, no problems in either case.

There was a version of LR that produced artefacts in PPC macs - ?2.4. Since fixed by updates.

OP: "neon lines" along intense highlights sounds like sensor bloom. Can you post up a picture?
