I've tried to stand back and let this thread play out on its own.

To those that were kind enough to comment and defend the post, thank you. Sad that it was necessary.

To those that have some other agenda, be it self-appointed moderator, taste police or gear gestapo, well... I think I'll stick to the high road. It's a better view from up here:

"tedious garbage" ..... we've taken photo critiquing to a new low here.

While "garbage" is a term I would not have used here, you ought to take into account that:

  • at the time that criticism was posted there were in fact no pictures visible in the thread
  • the only information available about the invisible pictures was by the OP
  • OP wrote in his first post that the majority of the material was taken with a Canon
  • the link to the pictures provided in the first post proved to be - for me - less than responsive so that at least I myself could not gain any access to the pictures.

"Tedious" and "non-Leica" were - at that time and given the available evidence - rather understandable sentiments.

hi pop

i find your overly-analytical excuses to be tedious garbage.

John T's photos definitely did not drive me wild ..... not by a long shot .... they were just "OK".

but ..... rude is rude, crude is crude ..... stop excusing foul behaviour.

we all get pissed off at less-than-leica-perfect images and then we go ahead and excuse abusive s^%^& like those remarks.

this forum is degenerating to what all other internet forums eventually degenerate to .... elitist snobs bullying the schoolyard.

am i pissed? .... i am pissed because there are so many good people here and shytt like this makes everyone look bad especially when we try to excuse it.

somebody needs to stand up and say he crossed the line.

John T's photos definitely did not drive me wild .

They're not excuses. Also, I did not endorse the word "garbage", and I do not appreciate your using it in response to my post, even if you consider it the

god-awful truth
.

However, if you read my "analytics" it can not escape your attention that - at the time the offending criticism was posted - there were no pictures at all in this thread, and there was an assertion by the OP that the missing pictures were produced using non-Leica equipment.

Hence, your opinion of the pictures now showing in this thread is immaterial regarding the particular post about "tedious garbage".

It seemed pretty clear to me that the shots taken with the Canon gear were at the posted link and were not the [missing] images in thread. 533.gif

Seeing how JT should be pretty well known around here as a Digilux 2 fanboy by now, I would think he deserved some benefit of the doubt that the "tedious crap" he was trying to post were taken with said camera

And really, if you don't like car photos, it would probably be best not to click on a thread entitled "Ferrari F430"

Absolutely agree with every word here; it was immediately clear from John's wording that, as required by forum rules, he was linking to non-Leica photos.

I suggest that we draw a line under this one. :o
