wattsy Posted December 26, 2009 Share #3 Posted December 26, 2009 If you are still standing outside Buckingham Palace next week, Richard Caplan is the nearest Leica dealer. The Leica Mayfair shop is also a short stroll away. Your only prospect of buying one today (Boxing Day) is from a chain store like Jessops or Jacobs on New Oxford Street but you'd need to check if they are open. andybarton Posted December 26, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 26, 2009 No chance today, unless somewhere like Harrods is open.

Nicoleica Posted December 26, 2009 Share #7 Posted December 26, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) M9 Battery? Jessops???? Probably not, but there is a small chance, and they might know someone who does. Jacobs in New Oxford St. are open tomorrow. (11am - 5pm) Their website is showing low stocks on batteries, but you might be lucky.
250swb Posted December 26, 2009 Share #8 Posted December 26, 2009 I think the Queen still uses Leica, maybe you could pop next door if the shops are shut? Steve

d2mini Posted December 26, 2009 Author Share #10 Posted December 26, 2009 Thanks guys, we r staying at the Ruebens hotel across the street. I should have specified we'll be running around tomorrow ( Sunday). Harrods was open today but we were on a tour. Stores tend to be open on Sundays here? Thanks! giordano Posted December 26, 2009 Share #11 Posted December 26, 2009 Thanks guys, we r staying at the Ruebens hotel across the street. I should have specified we'll be running around tomorrow ( Sunday). Harrods was open today but we were on a tour. Stores tend to be open on Sundays here? Thanks! Stores in general, yes, for six hours from 1100 or 1200 in central London. Harrods will be open Sunday and Monday. Specialist shops such as Richard Caplan and R G Lewis usually don't open on Sundays and will probably be closed on Monday 28th because that is a public holiday this year. Some, including the Leica store in Bruton Place, won't re-open until after the New Year.

Nicoleica Posted December 27, 2009 Share #13 Posted December 27, 2009 No batteries at harrods and. It looks like jessops is closed on Sunday? Anywhere else? Have you tried Jacobs in New Oxford St.? Their website stated they are open today between 11am and 5pm.
wattsy Posted December 27, 2009 Share #14 Posted December 27, 2009 Anywhere else? You should check Jacobs (they have more than one branch in London and should be able to cross check). Failing that, and if you are absolutely desperate, PM me because I'll be in my office in Chelsea tomorrow (Monday) and you could have my M9 battery for whatever the replacement cost is. andybarton Posted December 27, 2009 Share #15 Posted December 27, 2009 I know this might be a stupid question, but couldn't you just charge up the battery that you already have?
d2mini Posted December 27, 2009 Author Share #16 Posted December 27, 2009 I know this might be a stupid question, but couldn't you just charge up the battery that you already have? It's only a stupid question if you've never gone through more than 1 battery in a day. Oh well, thanks for the help folks, but there seems to be no batteries in London. Tried Harrods, Jessops and Jacobs. I appreciate the battery offer Wattsy, but it's not that big a deal. I only have one so figured while I was in a big city like London I would pick up a spare just in case before heading to Florence and Sienna tomorrow, but it looks like I'll just have to keep an eye on my battery level during the day. Charge #3 did seem to last longer than charge #'s 1 and 2 so that's a good sign.
andybarton Posted December 27, 2009 Share #17 Posted December 27, 2009 Fair enough, but deciding you need a second battery on Christmas Day is a bit challenging... I bet you won't find one in Siena.
d2mini Posted December 27, 2009 Author Share #18 Posted December 27, 2009 I got the camera right before xmas and Santa didn't put an extra one in my stocking, so ya.... figured it was a long shot, but worth a try while i was here. No plans on finding one in Italy.
ianspector Posted December 27, 2009 Share #19 Posted December 27, 2009 I am sure that you are doing everything to maximise the battery life such as no image review, no chimping and turning off when not in use. But did you bring your car charger with you that might allow you to charge it in a coach between stops. Best of luck, Ian
wattsy Posted December 28, 2009 Share #20 Posted December 28, 2009 I bet you won't find one in Siena. True, but there is a Leica dealer in Florence that might have a battery. The shop is called something like Bongi and is within a few yards of the brass boar water fountain.
