Guido Posted December 25, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 25, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm looking for a compact hotshoe flash for my M9 with approx. the same small and flat form factor of a Nikon SB-400. Sizewise, the Olympus T-32 would be a candidate, and seems to work with film M's according to old posts on other forums. Also, the flash bulb can be rotated upwards for bounce flash (like the SB-400). However, will the T-32 also work with an M9? If not, are there equivalent alternatives of similar size? Advertisement Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Hi Guido, Take a look here M9 and Olympus T-32 Flash?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jklotz Posted December 25, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 25, 2009 I was considering the Oly FL-14 Flash, simply because of it's size. I doubt it will do any type automatic exposure with an M9, but I prefer manual anyway. I'll be interested to hear what others are using, although I use flash so infrequently for my personal work anyway...
dugby Posted December 26, 2009 Share #3 Posted December 26, 2009 Try the Metz 40 MZ-3i, which has twin reflectors. About the same size as a T-32 I use mine with a Metz SCA 3502 MK5 - Leica shoe on my D2 which has a similar Flash configuration with a M7, R8 and R9 Go to http://www.metz.de/en/photo-electronics/sca-adapter.html
jklotz Posted December 26, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 26, 2009 Thanks Dugby. That seems to be a discontinued model. That's a shame. Looks like it would be perfect for an M9, given the size.
Sully Posted December 26, 2009 Share #5 Posted December 26, 2009 Has anyone tried the Metz 20 c2 series? It has a tilting head and will do automatic at 2.8 and 5.6. But will it work without shorting out the M 9. Does Metz still make it? Ciao, Sully
TacTZilla Posted December 26, 2009 Share #6 Posted December 26, 2009 I saved my SB-400 when I dumped my Nikon gear in exchange for and M9. Looks like it's not going to be compatible from what I've read so far. I too would like something similar. I've never been much of a flasher, but they can come in handy sometimes. Cheers B
