jamriman Posted December 24, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 24, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Happy Holidays, I've been reading a lot of good things about the 35 summarit lately. I have a 35 pre cron last version before ASPH. I have the 75 summarit and love the lightness and ergonimics. Does anyone any experience using both lenses and how they compare? Thanks! thompsonkirk Posted December 24, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 24, 2009 Don't sell the 35 Summicron v. 4 until you've read the page about versions of 35 Summicrons at Antique and Classic Camera Home Page Kirk
Various Posted December 25, 2009 Share #3 Posted December 25, 2009 Hello jamriman, I have both lenses. The problem is, what you want. The Summarit 2,5/35 is sharp, beginning at 2,5, the Summicron 2,0/35 is at 2,0 and 2,8 only sharp in the center, the edges are "creamy", some called it "Bokeh", I call it not sharp. At 4 and smaller apertures they are equal. If you want to see pictures, please contact me. Greets Various
lars_bergquist Posted December 25, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 25, 2009 The old Summicron is not half bad on a M9. As long as you do not use this focusing technique. I do hereby cnfess that I did not tell the fellow about the error of his ways until I had gotten this picture. Seriously, I have used the lens with manual identification, and the results have been so good that it is now away for permanent coding. It will be one of my mainstay lenses. elgenper Posted December 25, 2009 Share #5 Posted December 25, 2009 ....Seriously, I have used the lens with manual identification...... OK, finally got it.... That RF window can read the user´s fingerprint and identify him.... Sure beats entering your name in the EXIF block. lars_bergquist Posted December 25, 2009 Share #7 Posted December 25, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey thanks all,Looks like a keeper for sure. Now do I splurge for the lux? Decisions, decisions! Only if you often feel strapped for speed. Much depends under what conditions you work. Remember, in front of a sensor that can be safely scared up to ISO 1000 or more, f:2 is even better than f:1.4 was in front of a roll of Tri-X at ISO 400! Recently found a v4 and as you say, it is not pin-sharp (as the Zeiss f2 35 Biogon is – but so boring!) and very subject to flare. But something pleasing about it too.
