I purchased a Summilux-M 35mm 1.4f Asph. used - serial number is12589. When I attached the lens to the camera I went to the manual selection section of the menu and was greeted with three different choices:

35 f/1.4 11869/11870/11860

35 f/1.4 ASPHERICAL 11873

35 f/1.4 ASPH. 11874/11883

I selected the middle option, shot a frame and noticed darkened corners.

Then I selected the last option, shot a frame and also noticed darkened corners but they seemed a bit better.

Which option should I be using and will C1Pro fix the corners or do I need Corner Fix?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

The 35 1.4 asph is the last option. The middle one is the rare and older aspherical version, the first option the non-aspherical. If you notice vignetting like you describe, you may be underexposing a bit. In any case you do not need special software. C1, Photoshop and LR all have vignetting correction tools.

Thanks very much sir. These test shots were done in A mode (sorry). Should I employ a bit of Exposure compensation as a rule? Also I would love to know what settings most seasoned M9 users, like yourself, find to be perfect?

LOL,,,WOW, what a tool I am. That's so funny. I guess it would be 3637043. I was delighted to find out that it doesn't exhibit any focus shift. ROTFL...so funny. I had never taken the lens hood off yet. Today has been an education my friends.
