robert_parker Posted July 6, 2006 Share #1 Posted July 6, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) The R9 / R8 DMR is a great camera but it's not that easy to walk about the place with one slung round your neck - what camera bag / case do DMR users to keep their camera + say a couple of lenses (might be a 180mm 2.8 + 35-70mm Zoom) ?? Advertisement Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Hi robert_parker, Take a look here Bag for DMR. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted July 7, 2006 Share #2 Posted July 7, 2006 Robert - I use a small backpack with the camera in a soft drawstring bag and the lenses in their cases. It doesn't look like a camera bag, and is therefore less attractive to thieves. Stuart

11275 Posted July 7, 2006 Share #4 Posted July 7, 2006 I'm using a Billingham 206 bag with a 9-12 S-Flex insert. This arranges the interior perfectly to hold the R-8 with DMR attached (or motor drive) and either a 70-35mm or 21-35mm lens on the camera. The S-Flex is sized to just hold a Metz 54-MZ3 and a 70-180mm standing upright. There is sufficient room to easily retrieve and replace the camera, lens and flash without banging them about each other. If need be (and your back can support it) an AVEA-6 detachable outside pocket will carry either of the shorter lenses mentioned above with room for a 2X Extender-R. If you are looking for real punishment you can attach a second AVEA (for water and rations) and strap your tripod on the bottom of the bag. All the while having two front expandable, covered pockets for cleaning supplies, memory cards, etc. and a wide shoulder strap that is quite comfortable. whn Posted July 7, 2006 Share #8 Posted July 7, 2006 The R9 / R8 DMR is a great camera but it's not that easy to walk about the place with one slung round your neck - what camera bag / case do DMR users to keep their camera + say a couple of lenses (might be a 180mm 2.8 + 35-70mm Zoom) ?? Robert, I'm using a LowePro Daypack which carries the R9DMR, 3.5-4/21-35, 4/35-70, 4/80-200, charger, batteries, remote-control and several filters and other accessories. By the way: The most important thing I did to increase the carrying comfort was to replace the regular strap with one from Op/Tech.
robert_parker Posted July 10, 2006 Author Share #9 Posted July 10, 2006 Stuart, iM, Thom, Albert, Daniel, and Wilfried Thanks for your ideas and input - I think I'm most probably going to go down the Billingham 206/306 route, though Luigi's cases do becon if you're using anything like a standard lens !! Ps iM - I've used Tuckerboxes before now to carry cameras but I don't think I'll risk the Thunderboxes - most of my photographs wind up in there anyway !! Guest guy_mancuso Posted July 10, 2006 Share #10 Posted July 10, 2006 I'm a wimp . i use a Tamrac digital rolling bag , very similar to a Lowe Pro roller 1. I have no back left after this many years carrying gear. I can get 2 DMR/9 15,19,28,35,50,80,100,180 f2, batteries and cards and a metz 54 flash. i just can't fit the 280 f4 in with the 180 f2 at the same time. Oh and the 1.4 extender. Plus cords, Color Chart and little items.
11275 Posted July 11, 2006 Share #11 Posted July 11, 2006 Robert, FWIW . . . I bought my Billingham through Robert White (UK) by mailorder to the U.S. They were less expensive, had full stock of all the pieces I wanted, shipped right away and were courteous, prompt and personable in emails. Best! Thom
