agence275 Posted December 18, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 18, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Inspired already by the helpfulness of several threads.. So - I have had an accident with my M6 - the film rewind crank has been completely destroyed (Lowepro bag inadequate-now using a decent Tamrac!). I have previously had a poor experience with Milton Keynes albeit 17 years ago, so can anyone suggest a reputable reasonably priced repairer please? nickdando Posted December 19, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 19, 2009 As it's only a mechanical fault and nothing electrical, then I have no hesitation in recommending Malcolm Taylor. He can be contacted on 01568 770542. Nick

gyoung Posted December 19, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 19, 2009 Hi Nick Thanks for the recommendation; I'm not sure on dialling codes, where is Mr Taylor located? Many thanks again Nigel Malcolm fixed my M6 ttl when it had a bent rewind crank, as well as other repairs on my M3 and III. he is highly recomended Phone from France (and elsewhere outside UK) would be +44 1568 770542. He lives some way down a very narrow lane in the wilds near Leominster on the Shropshire/Herefordshire borders, I have been there a few times on my way from home to Mid Wales, using google maps or multimap would give you the way, but most people send stuff by carrier. stunsworth Posted December 19, 2009 Share #5 Posted December 19, 2009 I've used Malcom a couple of times and have been very happy with the service. His address is... Malcolm Taylor Upper Lye Farm Aymestrey Leominster Herefordshire HR6 9SZ United Kingdom I'd suggest giving him a call first so that he can give you an idea what may be involved in the repair. alifie Posted December 22, 2009 Share #8 Posted December 22, 2009 It is a very easy thing to replace the rewind crank assuming the shaft is still OK, just loosen the locking screw under the handle, hold the rewind 'prongs' inside the camera with a lolly pop stick and unscrew (anti clockwise). Replacement is the same but backwards. Individuals can get spares from Leica now (something to do with EU laws). Just done it on my M6 for aesthetics, still have the 'old' handle, rough but mechanically OK, PM me if you want it.

E.M Posted December 23, 2009 Share #10 Posted December 23, 2009 alifie , does that mean that I can order a new top for my M6 ttl , without the white letters on it . I use my chrome body almost all the time , but on the black , the letters stand out too much and I don't want to tape them off.
