Cityman Posted December 16, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 16, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey there, I bought the M9 & lux 50mm from B&H a couple of weeks ago. The camera is ready to be shipped but the lens is still out of stock and they don't know when it will arrive. Does anyone have any idea when the lens will be in stock at B&H's? anyone has any good inner information in the matter.. Thanks, -Dan
Advertisement Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Hi Cityman, Take a look here Waiting for Summilux 50mm to arrive. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jklotz Posted December 16, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 16, 2009 I sure don't know, but Tony @ popflash told me he has 5 on back order with no known delivery date.
rebelfocus Posted December 17, 2009 Share #3 Posted December 17, 2009 I sure don't know, but Tony @ popflash told me he has 5 on back order with no known delivery date. I paid in full at a UK dealer at the beginning of November. I've been waiting 2 months now and last week I was told the Leica UK don't expect a shipment from Germany until the end of January (at the very earliest!) so realistically that's a February delivery (probably a bit longer for the US). It makes sense that following the M9 launch the demand for the 50 would increase again. Pity Leica didn't plan for that and ramp up their production in good time. doug_m Posted December 17, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 17, 2009 The 50 lux ASPH is worth the wait. I "guarantee" it.

Did you order Black or Grey btw? 50 lux is fantastic, congrats!

Could you please let me know the exact date when you ordered? Did you order by phone or through their website? I ordered a black 50 Summilux on November 2 when it was in stock. B+H shipped it right away. Also, I ordered a black M9 on November 22 via B+H's website. My order history still shows the M9 "On Backorder". Thanks for a reply. jbhthescots Posted December 17, 2009 Share #10 Posted December 17, 2009 Wtf? I also ordered and paid in full from B&H for a black M9 on November 20 and its still showing "On Backorder". I'd also like to know how you managed to get so quickly? Please let us know how as there's no word from B&H of where you are on the list or when you can expect a delivery. If B&H have some sort of different way to process an order ahead of others who have helped their line of credit with an interest-free loan of $7k, then I think we should be told. Exactly when did you order and how?
novice9 Posted December 17, 2009 Share #11 Posted December 17, 2009 The best way to get one from B&H is to call customer service and work with one sales repre that can act as your advocate and you must INSIST that they call their internal buyer that deals with Leica and follows up for you several times a week. Short of this, you are not likely to get one from B&H anytime soon. Squeaky wheel gets the oil. Not supposed to work that way, B&H will deny that it does, but truth is that is what happens, at least in certain cases.

Exactly when did you order and how? Well, presumably it's in their interest to deliver first to the people that haven't paid . . that way they get their money as well as yours . . . henryp Posted December 17, 2009 Share #13 Posted December 17, 2009 I've been posting replies in the "B&H claiming substantial M9 shipment due..." thread. There, I wrote, "Regarding "Cityman," I don't know who he (or she) is and I have NO details at all about the order. I am reluctant to speculate in the vacuum." It is our policy to fill M9 orders in the order we received them regardless of what else is included in the order and regardless of the M9 customer's prior order history. First come, first served. You're making it hard for threads to go completely out of control with speculation by providing statements of fact as a named representative and presence for your company. Cheers, Will P.S. B&H is very smart to employ somebody like you to work the forums. As long as you're clearly stating facts about B&H policies and situations--not damage control/spin, but facts--you do your company *and* members of the forum a great service. I'd like to see B&H's version of the attached chart, BTW. Welcome, dear visitor! Cheers, Will Thank you for your kind words. Much appreciated. I've seen that chart before. For better or worse, B&H's would be far simpler. There's me. Actually for Twitter there's me and a handful of others, but for forums and blogs, there's me. As far as making it hard for the wild speculation to run rampant, I say "Let the wild rumpus begin," but get your facts straight when you do. Thank you Mr. Sendak. :-)
