Well, I just purchased a preowned M8 (only 400 shutter actuations), hopefully I didn't make a huge mistake! I've read about most of the problems and yet seen the outstanding photographs so decided to go ahead and melt the credit card a bit. Also bought a 50 and 90 mm Summicron pair of lenses.

Had one for several years. great camera - don't get too swayed by the posts. It works well, and takes lovely photos. The odd quirk shows up sometimes (much less now with better firmware) and now the WB is pretty much dead on as well. Just keep the batteries charged, and you'll be fine. You'll be more than fine - even quite happy!

Welcome to the forum, Sailronin. As with all new equipment there is an inevitable learning curve which is less steep if you are used to rangefinder cameras. Be prepared to shoot plenty, choosing subjects which are typical of your interests. Also be prepared to spend time in the post-processing phase; it really can help squeeze the very best from your M8 files.

Congratulations. That feels good and right, right ?

I have a new old M8 since Friday, also with less then 500 clicks.

My first lens is a Summicron C 40 which I filed a bit and coded. An Elmarit 21 in on the way to join our company.

After using several Nikons, photography with a rangefinder is same but different and I enjoy it more again.
