windex53 Posted December 13, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 13, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have just bought my first Leica (Digilux 3). Anybody knows if it is normal that, once switched on, the camera makes some internal "sound", as if there was some moving element (a little electric engine or something like that)? The noise isn't loud but clearly audible. May be something linked to the AF system? All the rest of the camera seems to work perfectly. Thanks a lot in advance to who finds time to answer. carlosecpf Posted December 13, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 13, 2009 My digilux 3 is completely silent. You should check with Leica what is going on with yours.

I take it you have the standard lens. If so its perfectly normal (read the manual if you have it.) Its the sound of the len's vibration reduction motor doing it stuff at power up. Turn lens VR off and from memory the sound is no more.
