TomM Posted December 12, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 12, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Please could anyone tell me whether Leica have ever produced a R8/R9 Motor Drive battery pack which uses ordinary AA batteries? If so, I would like to have the part number. I am aware of the rechargeable power pack currently still available for this accessory. Such a battery pack is referred to in Jonathan Eastland's (Hove) book on the R8, but I have not been able to trace one.

Moritz Posted December 13, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 13, 2009 Hi Tom, No. Leica has not produced the kind you are looking for. But if you open the small screws of the genuine battery pack you will find AA batteries inside, which might be can changed by an skilled technican. TomM Posted December 13, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted December 13, 2009 Thank you Moritz, You have no idea how difficult it was to find someone to answer this question. I tried Leica Solms, Leica-New Jersey and even Jonathan Eastland but the only response was from NJ where the Leica man said that he would investigate. That was a few days ago! I owned the original SL Motor Drive some time ago and it had the two types of battery pack which is quite useful because rechargeables always seem to have a rather limited durability.
