Giulio Zanni Posted December 4, 2006 Share #1 Posted December 4, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) How are your in-camera jpeg in-camera settings with the M8? I mean sharpening, contrast, saturation etc. I know that if you shoot raw it doesn't matter, but sometime I prefer to shoot jpeg and have a file which is almost good enough to be used out of the camera. Are there specific combinations that you would recommend and that maybe remind of some film/slide look. I am just starting to play with my brand new M8 and I think that different combinations could be saved under "user profiles". Thanks, Giulio
Advertisement Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Hi Giulio Zanni, Take a look here M8 jpeg in-camera settings . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted December 4, 2006 Share #2 Posted December 4, 2006 I have them at standard, but I only shoot RAW...If you put one user profile at B&W and the saving at DNG+JPG, your display will give you a B&W picture, but you can convert in post-processing. jaapv Posted December 4, 2006 Share #3 Posted December 4, 2006 Another fine thing: enlarge the LCD picture when chimping and push info for the histogram. Now you can navigate the photograph and determine exposure for small areas seperately. You'll see the histogram change as you move the area selected. Thanks, Giulio I always shoot in raw +jpeg fine , this gives you the choice of both world's plus you canchange the color mode to B&W and have the jpeg fine as monochrome and the raw as color. When I use it this way I set up the contrast for medium low - sharpness medium high and when shooting at high iso's you get a nice grainy look similar to pushed film. Giulio Zanni Posted December 4, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted December 4, 2006 Now, if only Aperture would start supporting DNGs from the M8...I don't really feel like going through the learning curve of C1...but I guess I will have to.... Any news about the possibility for Aperture to support the M8? Thanks, Giulio
mike prevette Posted December 4, 2006 Share #6 Posted December 4, 2006 I have contrast and sharpness at their lowest, then I adjust them in lightroom. The poor mans RAW works very well for me. _mike
