spylaw4 Posted December 16, 2009 Author Share #21 Posted December 16, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) There was an item on BBC news this evening about how the police actually caught someone who on face value appeared to be taking "reconnaissance" pictures of tube stations with his mobile phone. Note that it was the City of London Police who released the film. Note also that the "offenders" were not prosecuted under the terrorism legislation, but for other offences and later deported. Despite the City Police being a separate force, they will still have had the ACPO letter. I wonder what will happen next "Open House" day in the City! Seeingeye Posted December 16, 2009 Share #22 Posted December 16, 2009 There was an item on BBC news this evening about how the police actually caught someone who on face value appeared to be taking "reconnaissance" pictures of tube stations with his mobile phone. Amateur Photographer has mentioned this in one of their news items today, which discusses whether terrorists would be likely to use a tripod. Right at the end of the article, at the foot of the second page is this: "Commenting on the Algerian tourist's phone footage a City of London Police spokesperson told us: 'The individuals concerned had been in the UK a number of years using false identities and committing fraud. Many locational references are linked to areas where their fraudulent activity took place, rather than hostile reconnaissance.' " Curiouser and curiouser. Terrorist photographers would not 'set up a tripod' news - Amateur Photographer - news, camera reviews, lens reviews, camera equipment guides, photography courses, competitions, photography forums Regards Mike

The first press releases were that he was wearing a bulky jacket in the summer, running away, jumping over barriers.........then later we were told he wasn't wearing a bulky jacket, he didn't run away or jump any barriers. Of course the stuff that sticks in joe publics mind are the first headlines. So most people will just remember 'photographing in public....terrorist.....danger'.
