As far as I know, 998016 belongs to a batch of 300 M3 made by Leitz Canada in 1960... Canadian M3s are indeed less numerous than Wetzlar M3s, but are not to be considered a rarity; probably the mean prices in the collectible market are indeed someway higher, anyway. To be pedant on serial numbers, the 998.001 - 998.300 ought to be the "last batch before 1.000.000"... some collectors like this magic of numbers... ;)

I had a very late 114xxxx M3 and one just under the 1M mark. Both user cosmetics, CLA'd and working perfectly. The feel and features of both were indistinguishable. I sold the 114x and kept the one under 1M after picking up an early M2.
