ddbg Posted December 10, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 10, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just canceled my nov21 order with B&H & oct12 order with “The Camera Store”. I should have my life back to normal. No more checking my order status every 2 hours. No more thinking about when it will arrive. I can't do my work; I can’t sleep; I keep checking the forum to see if anyone is getting his or her order shipped. I need my life back. I rather wait patiently until I see them in stock in Vancouver when ever that may be. I just continue to use my non-Leica gear for now. My Leica Lens will just have to be hidden and locked up. I am going through the same thing, but my M9 is on its way via slow ground shipping thanks to the cheap shipping method of my vendor (who misinformed me about shipping method...boo). I've never bought anything Leica from my local dealer (though I buy other things through them) and got on their list because I wanted local support, even if it meant paying sales tax. They are getting one a month, have gotten two now in total, and I'll probably see mine in February. Fortunately I've got a stable of film Leicas...so I won't die. We have an S2 forum about a completely weather sealed studio camera that is not available and too expensive for almost everyone, anyway; an X1 forum about the most expensive p&s camera of all times that is unfortunately not available, either; and an M9 forum about a seriously flawed camera that is available in principle although not quite so for most people who want one. Then there is the M8 forum about a camera that is supposed to have become obsolete by the above mentioned M9 although it still takes great pcitures. And we have absolutely no forum at all for the R system which also takes great pictures but unfortunately has been abandoned by Leica - for the S2. The M9 takes pictures AT LEAST AS "great" as those from the M8. Either they both are seriously flawed - or they both take great pictures (or, more accurately, a competent photographer can use either one equally to create great pictures). "....a seriously flawed camera that is available in principle although not quite so for most people who want one." reminds me (yet again) of the Woody Allen joke about two elderly women talking at a resort hotel: "The food here is just terrible," says one. "Yes, and such small portions!" says the other. It takes a curiously twisted logic to complain about (or comment on) not being able to get enough of a bad thing. On the original post: I'm always amused when someone has to treat photography forums as another Facebook or MySpace to publicly wallow in their own insecurities, neuroses and obsessions.
