dalecook Posted December 10, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 10, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would like to get something to protect the LCD screen on a new M9. Before I purchased something, I wanted to see what others are using with good experience. I was considering the Giottos Aegis, but the correct size seems to be on back order. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

250swb Posted December 10, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 10, 2009 I don't want to steal anybody's thunder, but I got the idea of using iPhone screen protectors from either this or another Leica forum. Cut them down to size and they are superb. They are not the thin Fablon type of floppy plastic, but very clear polycarbonate sheet and are much clearer and nicer to look at than say the Zagg 'Invisible Shield' type of protector. rsmphoto Posted December 10, 2009 Share #3 Posted December 10, 2009 There have been several past threads on this subject. You should search the site. FWIW and in my opinion, the Aegis is well worth the wait. Cheers
James Mitchell Posted December 10, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 10, 2009 Just do a search for that size. I found one at Adorama after looking at a number of other stores.
scottwallick Posted December 10, 2009 Share #5 Posted December 10, 2009 I wanted to see what others are using with good experience. Let me recommend the Zagg brand InvisibleShield. These really stay on, don't need any residue, and come with a lifetime warranty. They come off perfectly, too, and don't leave any permanent damage. Just buy the generic 2.5" InvisibleShield from Adorama. I think they have them for like US $7 or so. These are much better than the protectors that you have to replace from time to time. The InvisibleShield really lasts.
d2mini Posted December 10, 2009 Share #6 Posted December 10, 2009 I plan on picking up a Giottos SP8250.
AlanJW Posted December 10, 2009 Share #7 Posted December 10, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Giottos SP8250. Thin antireflective optical glass. I have tried maybe 5 different things. Giottos is the best soluton -- for me.
lars_bergquist Posted December 10, 2009 Share #8 Posted December 10, 2009 I gave up the 'screen protectors' long ago. The best protection is a Luigi Crescenzi half-case. It protects a lot more than the screen, too. An added bonus is that it keeps you from chimping all those times you don't need to do it -- which is most times.
