wda Posted December 7, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 7, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) One of a series I took of the restoration of an historic canal water pump powered by river flow. This is part of the main water wheel which received new wooden paddles. During the summer it is open to visitors and occasionally pumps water into the canal to maintain levels. wda Posted December 8, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted December 8, 2009 Real machinery! Can you show us some more? Where is this? Bill, Claverton near Bath Somerset. Car parking is a bit of a problem due to its fairly remote location. I will post some more pictures for you. Thank you also, Stuart and Paul for your interest. This project is almost entirely funded from charitable sources and facilitated by a wonderful team of volunteers who work different shifts in season when open to the public. In the winter it undergoes maintenance and further restoration. It is part of the restored Kennet and Avon canal which, in its day, opened up a trade artery between Bristol and London by joining the River Thames near Reading.
