spylaw4 Posted January 22, 2010 Share #101 Posted January 22, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been given to understand that the Far East had some around Xmas, so it is possible that some have filtered through to Europe from there. Re the case - all those who pre-ordered in the UK i.e. paid their £425 deposit will be getting the free case referred to above as an apology for the delay. Advertisement Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Hi spylaw4, Take a look here When will the X1 ship?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Don Helmudo Posted January 22, 2010 Share #102 Posted January 22, 2010 Thanks for letting us know, Jan If shipping has started in the Netherlands there´s a good chance that they will start shipping in Germany soon. Edit: Just called my local dealer: None yet but they are optimistic to get it in the next two weeks.
wda Posted January 22, 2010 Share #103 Posted January 22, 2010 I don't think we can be too sceptical but V1.0 seems to go against what Leica's own store in London told me Wednesday. They said the firmware (and testing) where the reasons for 'delay' until Feb. Perhaps the UK will receive a slightly later delivery of the X1 with later firmware, hence the inducement to be patient! bad robot Posted January 23, 2010 Share #105 Posted January 23, 2010 "I remember when I was a kid how Caddilac was such a premium brand. Everyone I knew wanted to own one. Today they are struggling to stay alive. The quality wasn't there compared to Mercedes and BMW and neither was the service" BMW and Mercades are german companies..... h00ligan Posted January 23, 2010 Share #106 Posted January 23, 2010 Thanks for the info Jan. Photomark of Phoenix just told me they have 'a few on order' and they expect them in stock 'mid to late February is what we've been told' Fwiw.
andym911 Posted January 23, 2010 Share #107 Posted January 23, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) if Leica make it in March I will be surprised.....this release is dragging beyond any 'normal' timeframe...guess they are still not confident. andy
h00ligan Posted January 23, 2010 Share #108 Posted January 23, 2010 I actually think preorders (maybe not the online ones from amazon) will be fulfilled by end of feb.. I hope so! I really want to see this thing in the wild and let the praise and complaints ensue.
Hythe Posted January 23, 2010 Share #109 Posted January 23, 2010 When I get mine the first shots will be of Berkley Sq and the Yo Sushi conveyor belt at St Pancras - I can see into the future . .
jpmac55 Posted January 23, 2010 Share #110 Posted January 23, 2010 The anticipation is both exciting and tiring at the same time for those ordering one and for those folks passing on it for now. Way too many threads on a camera not even in stores yet. Me? I have a X1 on order.
Hythe Posted January 23, 2010 Share #111 Posted January 23, 2010 I agree. But I'm anticipating my collection journey by Javelin train, then X1 (with free leather case) followed sushi at St P - it's more than exciting
h00ligan Posted January 23, 2010 Share #112 Posted January 23, 2010 Now THAT sounds like the right way to fetch a camera.
len_gee Posted January 26, 2010 Share #113 Posted January 26, 2010 I'm in the USA but no matter, what's you guess when this new device will ship? I'm guessing a few productions units will arrive (in the USA) before month's end. State your country please... -g X1 delayed until firmware fix the WB and AF. My Leica dealer in USA says delivery in March.
jpmac55 Posted January 26, 2010 Share #114 Posted January 26, 2010 X1 delayed until firmware fix the WB and AF. My Leica dealer in USA says delivery in March. Yikes, that's not good. Any dealers jumping right to April yet?
markpsf Posted January 27, 2010 Share #115 Posted January 27, 2010 I'm no longer trusting any dealer or Leica spokespeople reports. It seems unlikely that Leica would be releasing some in Europe but waiting to fix firmware before U.S. Shipping. But who the h--- knows! Mark
ptu Posted January 28, 2010 Share #116 Posted January 28, 2010 I got email today from my Leica dealer (Austria) that they have received my X1 and will ship it immediately to Finland after payment. So I paid my camera and I should have it within next 48h. So latest on Tuesday (cause you never know about the weekends, but I am hoping for it comes earlier). Don Helmudo Posted January 28, 2010 Share #119 Posted January 28, 2010 Yeah, quite a pleasure to hear that Looking forward to your pictures from the North. It´s good that the X1 seems to do well at hight ISOs as I would not expect too much light in Lapland at this time of the year
