Douglasco Posted February 2, 2010 Share #141 Â Posted February 2, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) In the U.K my dealer only has four x1s due to arrive today, I do not know how long his waiting list is so I count myself lucky to be getting one. Advertisement Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Hi Douglasco, Take a look here When will the X1 ship?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
thomsva Posted February 2, 2010 Share #142 Â Posted February 2, 2010 Actually I bought it from Leica Shop Austria Willkommen im LeicaShop - Startseite de and had it shipped here. Â Yes, of course I now remember reading that some days ago. Â I will be in Germany three days this week driving between meetings. Tomorrow when I drive from Bonn to Frankfurt I plan to take a detour and visit Solms. It may not help me getting an X1 any earlier, but I will bring my creditcard along just in case... To you, just £9000  Thanks, but no thanks. My choice is the Defender or an old Series I. I had a Defender for five years. I loved it. Then I got stupid and sold it to buy a G Wagen. I regret that decision since.
Hythe Posted February 2, 2010 Share #146 Â Posted February 2, 2010 It's arrived in the store. Fifteen X1s arrived at Leica Mayfair, London today. Hoorah Henry! But I can't leave the office to go and get it. I'm climbing the wall. How unfair is that? The free leather case for those that ordered the camera years ago have not arrived, neither have any accessories.
markpsf Posted February 2, 2010 Share #147  Posted February 2, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) According to Alex at PopFlash (In California)...Shipment 2nd or 3rd week of the month. BUT they have no idea how many will be in the shipment and don't know that until a couple of days before.  Mark         Just learned from Popflash (USA) that they will likely be getting only ten X1's the second or third week of February. I'm number 20 on that list  Their terms for ordering are fair but restrictive. You can cancel but your $500. deposit must go toward a Leica product. Sorry I didn't sign up elsewhere. Oh well, my wait just got even longer.
Infinite Posted February 2, 2010 Share #148 Â Posted February 2, 2010 Presumably you have dealt with your chosen dealer in the past and know about their reputation. Dealers in the UK appear to be receiving a demonstration copy of the X1 which is available for prospective customers to view and try this week. Even they lack firm delivery forecasts but one believes stock will filter through during the next week or two. I am sure Germany must be well placed in the queue. Why not contact Solms? Â Finally my X1 has arrived today at Meister Camera in Berlin. They informed me that UPS will pick it up tomorrow. Can't wait

The problem still lies with Leica. They should work problems out before indicating release dates and also not release 3 cameras more or less simultaneously without sufficient production capacity.  Mark

In fact PopFlash is just being forthright and not taking the high road like most camera shops. That makes them the good guys.  That said, I'll likely wait until the cameras actually arrive in the states and see about getting the X1 elsewhere if PopFlash gets skunked on inventory. That makes them the good guys. That said, I'll likely wait until the cameras actually arrive in the states and see about getting the X1 elsewhere if PopFlash gets skunked on inventory.   Alex at Popflash does say that they expect as many as the larger places like B&H because of their identification as one of the major Leica dealers in the U.S. It is just possible that no place will get a huge number in the first shipment. The one advantage of course with B&H is that they don't take pre-orders and if you hit it just right with the timing you may luck out when they do get it in.  Mark
h00ligan Posted February 3, 2010 Share #152 Â Posted February 3, 2010 My issue is how the return policy is run. They don't have to pay Leica (presumably) or they are so small they can't purchase the cam with cash reserves so they pass on an nonrefundable deposit to the customer. It just seems strange to me. jaay Posted February 3, 2010 Share #153 Â Posted February 3, 2010 collected mine yesterday from Leica store in Mayfair Delighted with the feel and weight of the camera - it seriously weighs nothing! The lens looks fantastic and the dials are great. v. pleased and free case coming in a couple of weeks.
peterv Posted February 3, 2010 Share #154 Â Posted February 3, 2010 Jaay, congrats on your new camera! Â Do the top-control dials still feel 'loose' like in the reports about the first camera's, or does this production X1 have more 'tight' aperture and shutter dials? Firmware is 1.0? Â And another question for new X1 owners; when you log on to the Leica owners website and register your X1, is there a firmware update available? jsrockit Posted February 3, 2010 Share #155 Â Posted February 3, 2010 I heard that Leica made the dials looser, the AF worse, and decided to go with firmware 0.97659 because they just love messing with the forums.

OK, so this was my lucky day! After a brief tour of the production in Solms I learned that the factory shop had recieved five x1:s today. I made a quick decision and bought the fist one of the five.  When I first charged the battery and inserted a memory card it was already dark outside so I got to test the high iso performance. Initial samples have been posted in the iso3200 thread.
