brt3 Posted January 15, 2010 Share #82 Â Posted January 15, 2010 I ordered a complete X1 system the instant it went online in the Amazon system. Yesterday they shipped out the system case. If the accessories are shipping, the camera can't be far behind. I hope...

brt3 Posted January 16, 2010 Share #84 Â Posted January 16, 2010 I don't think I'll waver for an instant on this one. I've been through many iterations of small high-quality cameras and am tired of disappointments. Ricoh GX100 and GX200, Sigma DP1 and DP2 -- I just want something that can make beautiful images in a reasonable fashion. The Ricohs didn't offer high enough quality. The Sigmas offer good quality, but are absolutely maddening to use. The X1 is too expensive, for sure, but -- if guys like Steve Huff are correct -- the quality should make it worthwhile... Hythe Posted January 16, 2010 Share #85 Â Posted January 16, 2010 Leica Mayfair, London this morning: "We were promissed all of them by the end of January. That's all we know". Me: "Could be February then?" LML: "It does happen."
Hythe Posted January 20, 2010 Share #86  Posted January 20, 2010 Had a call today from Leica Mayfair (London). "Good news and bad news'" he said. The good news: "We're going to give you a Leica leather case for the X1 worth £160.00." The bad news: "X1 delayed until February." I said: "First week? mid-Feb? end of Feb?" LM: "Anticipating early in month." Me: "Why delay?" LM: "Firmware fixes, they've been testing it.`'

h00ligan Posted January 21, 2010 Share #88 Â Posted January 21, 2010 damn I wish I could get that condolence prize! Â It ships when it ships.. i guess we just have to understand that. And yes - I'd rather they spend more time making it better. However if they don't - it's getting returned.

janmartm Posted January 21, 2010 Share #93 Â Posted January 21, 2010 Ladies and Gentlemen, Â I got one. Â To my own suprise I got a call from my dealer today that my X1 was delivered. Apparently I got one of the first in The Netherlands. At the same time I received an email from one of the online shops stating the X1 to be in stock, so it's not a demo version. Delivery has started. Â And man it is sweeet! Well built, responsive, AF speed seems fine to me (feels about as fast as my D200 with a lens without internal motor, like the 50mm f/1.8). Â Firmware version is 1.0 Â Jan Martijn
wda Posted January 21, 2010 Share #94 Â Posted January 21, 2010 Well done, Jan. Do tell us about your fields of photography and how the X1 will fit in with your plans. Â Did any accessories arrive with the camera, assuming you ordered the grip or viewfinder or case?
grober Posted January 21, 2010 Author Share #95 Â Posted January 21, 2010 Jan, Â What is the detent like when you move either the shutter speed or aperture dial? Â (There's been a lot of discussion about there being NO detent at all.) Â Thanks! Â -g
janmartm Posted January 21, 2010 Share #96 Â Posted January 21, 2010 There is a distinct detent when you move the dials, you feel them 'click' into the next setting. I can imagine however that the dials might rotate by accident when you put the camera into or out of a tight case. Â /JM
h00ligan Posted January 21, 2010 Share #97 Â Posted January 21, 2010 I keep coming here thinking - one day someone is going to say "hey i got mine!" Â Now you have - get ready for some questions and you must immediately take a ton of shots and let us oooh and ahhh over them! I'm a bit surprised it didn't ship with a 1.1 - perhaps the 1.0 has been tweaked internally. Congrats! Â How is the LCD when it's bright outside? Did you order the vf? jsrockit Posted January 22, 2010 Share #98 Â Posted January 22, 2010 Is anyone skeptical at all that janmartm just signed up to tell he / she got an X1?
janmartm Posted January 22, 2010 Share #99 Â Posted January 22, 2010 @jsrockit: No I didn't sign up just to tell you. I did post however to let you all know the wait is almost over, at least in Europe. I had several dealers notify my when they would get the X1 and already three of them indicated they would get it this week or beginning of next. I never owned a Leica before and have been following this forum ever since the X1 was announced. The X1 fits most of what I consider to be ideal: high IQ in a compact enclosure without all the frills we see in most compact camera's today. It's about the photograph, not the features. Â @h00ligan: I only played with it last night, so not much details yet. My first impression is that it fits the descriptions given in the reviews by Sean Reid and Steve Huff. I didn't order the vf because it would decrease the portability in my opinion. And I don't think the price fits the benefits. Â Jan Martijn
Hythe Posted January 22, 2010 Share #100 Â Posted January 22, 2010 I don't think we can be too sceptical but V1.0 seems to go against what Leica's own store in London told me Wednesday. They said the firmware (and testing) where the reasons for 'delay' until Feb.
