steve70 Posted December 6, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 6, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I had been using WIndows XP and CS2 but just switched over to a new iMc. When I opened a CD or DVD or SD card with images in Windows XP & CS2 the thumbnail images where a decent size, at least large enough to see what they where. In the iMac & CS4 the thumbnails and about as big as a microbe. Can anyone tell me how to make the thumbnail images larger so that I ca see what I have actually photographed? Please keep in mind the the iMac is a totally new system for me, so please keep the explanations as simple and as clear as possible. Thank you

MEB Posted December 6, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 6, 2009 Steve, In most folders that you open on a Mac system there is a slider switch in the lower right corner of the window box. Sliding that control to the right will enlarge the thumbnail images. The same with Adobe Bridge (where you examine the thumbnails before opening them in Photoshop). The slider is in the lower right portion of the Bridge main window. Mark Blumer
steve70 Posted December 6, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted December 6, 2009 Thanks Mark, Unfortunately that slide bar is not there! If I up load the photos in my iPhoto, than they are nice and big, but not in CS4.

Shootist Posted December 6, 2009 Share #5 Posted December 6, 2009 Hi Mark,I did find that slide in Bridge, but not in CS4. I am still trying to figure Bridge out and don't know how to import the image from Bridge to CS 4 so thT I CAN THAN WORK ON IT. Thanks again In bridge double click on the image and it will open in Photoshop. Bridge is a very versatile program. you can customise it anyway you want. If you need LARGE preview of a image just highlight that image and hit the space bar (that is on a Win XP PC) and the image goes full screen. Hit the space bar again and you're back to the bridge program. There are many workspaces to choose from and you can customise them to your liking and then save them as a new workspace. Here is one that I have customised to my liking. It is a Zip file but I had to change the file extension to .TXT to upload it to this site. Just change it back to .zip and then unZip it and store it in the Adobe Bridge CS4 Workspace folder (not sure where that is on a Mac as I'm using a PC. But if you do a search for *.workspace the folder should turn up).
stunsworth Posted December 7, 2009 Share #6 Posted December 7, 2009 If you have finder showing the images in icon mode there's a slider on the bottom right of the window. If you are viewing the images in column mode you can make the preview bigger by click and dragging the column immediately to the right of the preview. wlaidlaw Posted December 8, 2009 Share #7 Posted December 8, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Steve, CS4 does not really work as a photo browser. That is the job of Lightroom, Bridge, Aperture or iPhoto. I suspect you may be opening the thumbnail in CS4 not the image. To make the images fill your workspace in CS4/Mac, hit Command-0 (zero not o). I recommend my students buy the CS4 starter DVD from Beckham Digital . The tutorial on customising your personal workspace is worth the purchase price on its own. Wilson PS (with apologies to Jono if he is reading this thread) Barry Beckham's strong Norfolk accent may get on your wick.
