amoz Posted November 29, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 29, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I checked all subfora but was unsure where to post my question. I apologize if this is the wrong place, feel free to move my thread if necessary. I am looking for a good lightmeter to use for available light, and I would like the option of spot-metering. The in-camera meter of my MP and future M9... have its limits, so what would you recommend to complement this system? [if it is of any importance: I shoot with 35/2 and 75/2 lenses.] Thanks! Advertisement Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Hi amoz, Take a look here what handheld lightmeter to accompany an M9?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guido Posted November 30, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 30, 2009 I can recommend the Kenko 2100 - it does a great job as an all-in-one tool although it isn't exactly tiny compared to an M.
farnz Posted November 30, 2009 Share #3 Posted November 30, 2009 Amoz, If you haven't already been welcomed to the forum, then welcome! I've found the Gossen Digisix very well matched with my M8 and my Canon 5D MkII so I see no reason why it wouldn't match your M9 very well. It's inexpensive, small, very light, will do both incident and reflected metering and includes a digital timer for long exposures. It's only negative imho is that it does use batteries quite quickly so it pays to carry a spare. Pete.
giordano Posted December 1, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 1, 2009 I have both the Kenko 2100 and the Digiflash (=Digisix with flash metering too) and like them both. The Digisix is beautifully light and compact, perfect for travel, but it doesn't do spot metering and mode button is vulnerable to accidental presses, which can be a nuisance. More important, it doesn't do spot metering.
