What I was wondering if the algorithm of this software use color reference from the center of the photos then adjust the corners accordingly.

 

Sort of. CornerFix doesn't use an explicit color reference; what it does is to build a statistical model of the color change across the image. The color reference is then implicit in that model - effectively the optical center of the model of the vignetting pattern. But there isn't necessarily any particular pixel with that color. If that makes any sense.

Mark - I'd not tried to fix the problem image with Cornerfix as I'd not worked out how to use the program! I now need som daylight and a grey card to move to the next level!

Sandy- You are a genius! I've been travelling and this morning was my first opportunity to download and use your latest version.

 

Here's a particularly problematic test shot I did on the M9 & 12mm C/V in Sept. Just ran it through your latest version of CornerFix, using your embedded 12mm profile.

Well, I still see quite a lot of red in the bottom left corner and magenta on the sky (left side)... and the image has a "processed" look. There's something not natural.

 

Though, I agree it's a 12mm lens and Andy has done a GREAT job.

 

Anyway, I hope Leica sort out this problem soon.

When you can, it will probably be worth the time to do your own profile for your lens specifically; the result will be even better as CV12s vary quite a bit......

on difficult subjects such as this one I believe it is worth not only to create a profile adapted to each particular lens, but further more do it for each aperture. Vignetting as well as red cast varies depending the aperture.

 

As I am home with a cold i spent some time this morning re-doing my CV 15 profile - this time I found a small shet of white perspex. The result is stunning -> it is woth investing time in profile creation!

 

On the particula shot above it might be suitable to reduce a bit the vigneting correction - that would certainly remove this bit artificial impression and make the pic apear more natural.

 

I really wonder what Leica is comming up with - it can not be better than Cornerfix - only simpler as it should happen within the M9.

??? I don't understand what you mean about red and magenta.

Have you only looked at pic #1?

I don't see any red in either the bottom or top left corner in pic #2.

 

Other than conversion from DNG to JPEG no PP was done. However having compressed the files from 36MB down to 190KB, one would expect some JPEG artifact, which probably accounts for the unnatural & processed look.
